In the south of Eindhoven lies Genneper Parken, which the municipality describes as one of the largest parks in the Netherlands. Here, art and culture meet a wide range of sports and leisure activities. The park’s historic stream-valley landscape is also home to Genneper Watermolen. Several paths run alongside the Dommel and Tongelreep rivers, among other places; mini golf is also available.

One specific walking option is the “Eindje Om De Dommel” hike: it takes approximately 90 minutes and passes green spaces such as the city garden, as well as cultural and historical landmarks. These include the factory wall of NV Linnenfabrieken Briel & Verster. With a little luck, you may spot kingfishers, grey wagtails and banded demoiselles along the way. The approximate duration gives you a guide for planning your day; wildlife sightings are a possibility, not a guarantee.

Other green spaces each have their own character. Landgoed de Wielewaal features open fields, flower-rich edges and paths through varied natural surroundings. On a walk, you may be lucky enough to see deer, foxes or kingfishers. The estate’s gates were opened for the first time in more than a hundred years in September 2025, allowing visitors to discover Philips’ heritage there. Check whether access is currently possible before your visit.

The Philips Fruittuin is an orchard established by Philips along the Groene Corridor, where you can cycle or walk. Visitors can pick fruit there and buy local juice at the Landwinkel; seasonal offerings may change. In Philips de Jongh Wandelpark, paths wind among monumental trees, and the park is open to everyone. In Stadswandelpark, 30 sculptures bring nature and art together.

Art, museums and Eindhoven’s heritage

Eindhoven’s specially designed heritage signs explain what is still visible today and also tell the stories of places and events that have disappeared. They show the city’s historical development. An interactive digital map lets you plan a route along the signs, connecting visible traces with the city’s history.

The Philips Museum is housed in the historic factory building where Gerard Philips made his first light bulbs in 1891. It presents the company’s history: from electric light and radio to the introduction of X-ray technology and television, and on to the digital age. The museum is a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Central Station; buses via the Piazza or Vrijstraat stops are another option. Check your route before travelling.

The Van Abbemuseum has an international collection of more than 3,400 works of art, a selection of which is on display in the building. The collection may change as new works are acquired. A visit to the museum therefore offers a distinct focus on art alongside the industrial history visible elsewhere in Eindhoven.

Industrial history and design on Strijp-S

Strijp-S is a former Philips industrial site that has been transformed into a creative district with cultural, residential and work spaces. Former factory buildings such as Klokgebouw, Microlab, Videolab, Veemgebouw and Apparatenfabriek now house workshops, offices and meeting places. Visitors can explore exhibitions, shop for Eindhoven design and look inside creative studios such as New Order of Fashion and Broeinest.

The Strijp Design Route takes you to technology and design highlights on Strijp-S, Strijp-T and Strijp-R. The three Philips industrial sites were developed between the 1920s and 1950s; today, they are home to exhibitions, design studios, creative workshops and innovative businesses. Check the route information before your visit.

Planning your stay

Electric rental bikes, scooters and cars are available in Eindhoven, with mobility hubs located at various points across the city. Providers and locations may change.
