Landscape of the Pasubio Massif

Valli Del Pasubio lies in the Alto Vicentino at the foot of the Pasubio massif. As the elevation increases, the landscape transitions from beech forests to high-altitude pastures. This shift from forest to pasture gives the surroundings a distinct landscape character. If you are planning your trip around the scenery, route or event, Valli Del Pasubio offers several points of interest: the change in elevation, the routes on the massif and the Sagra della Sopressa.

Routes on the Pasubio

The Strada degli Eroi is an approximately two-kilometre section between the Galleria d’Havet and the Rifugio Achille Papa at the Porte del Pasubio. The section lies within the municipality of Valli del Pasubio. Its approximate length and two named endpoints provide a clear sense of the route.

The Cattedrali di pietra route follows the military mule track, marked 401, for most of the way to the summit of Rione, and offers views of the Val Leogra below. The type of path, its number, destination and views of the landscape give you specific points of reference for understanding the character of this route.

The Dove canta l’urogallo route starts near the Vallortigara Monument and climbs the southwestern slope of the massif along trail 411. Its starting point near the monument and the direction of the ascent are defining features. The trail number distinguishes it from Cattedrali di pietra, which follows marker 401.

For choosing a route, you can make a direct comparison: the Strada degli Eroi can be assessed by its length and endpoints; the military mule track, summit destination and views shape the course of Cattedrali di pietra; and the starting point and direction of ascent are the main features of Dove canta l’urogallo. This lets you compare the trails according to whether the section, destination or direction matters most to your plans.

Access to the Sacrario del Pasubio

The access route to the Sacrario del Pasubio passes through Valli del Pasubio; from there, it takes about another 25 minutes to reach the destination. This is an approximate time for the remaining drive. It answers a different planning question from the approximately two kilometres of the Strada degli Eroi: that figure refers to the length of a trail section, while this one is the time to the Sacrario. Before setting out, check current road conditions and signs, as both may change.

Sagra della Sopressa and trip planning

The Sagra della Sopressa has been held annually in Valli del Pasubio by the Pro Loco for over 50 years. It is a recurring local event alongside the routes and scenery. If you would like to plan your stay around the Sagra, check the dates for the relevant edition; individual editions and dates may change. For your specific trip, it is the date of the edition in question that matters, not just the fact that it is held every year.
