Also worth exploring are the activities at Parco NeveSole and the art in the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa.

Landscape and Lago di Mosigo

Around San Vito, green meadows alternate with dense forests of conifers and beech trees. The area around Lago di Mosigo is a high-value natural habitat with many wild animal species; migratory birds also use it as a stopover. By the lake, there is an equipped area with wooden play equipment, plastic structures and a small funicular. There are also tables, benches and two barbecue fire pits. From the center of San Vito, the footpath along Via Sentinella leads to Lago di Mosigo in ten minutes.

Skiing and activities at Parco NeveSole

The San Vito ski area offers 20 kilometers of slopes of all difficulty levels. Large parking lots and a free on-demand ski bus are available for access to the facilities. The ski bus operates within the municipality of San Vito for residents and tourists, including non-skiers. Local access is therefore not intended exclusively for skiers; however, the bus runs on demand and its service is limited to the municipality.

Parco NeveSole has a ski school area with two conveyor belts for learning to ski or snowboard. A play park offers rides downhill on sleds and inner tubes. The Parco NeveSole childcare center organizes activities for children indoors and outdoors. These include workshops using salt dough, wood, paper and fabrics, as well as group games and theater. So, alongside the slopes, there are several specific activities for children in the town.

Cycle routes and walking trails

The Cortina–San Vito cycle route follows the former railway line, passing forests, clearings and Alpine villages. It is easy and runs entirely along a paved cycle path. On the Calalzo–Cortina cycle route, the section between San Vito di Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo partly follows the Antica Strada Regia. The information about the two routes therefore describes different features: for Cortina–San Vito, the surface and difficulty level are specified; for Calalzo–Cortina, the partial use of the Antica Strada Regia is noted.

The Antica Strada Regia route begins in the center of San Vito, on the square behind the parish church. Access to Rifugio San Marco is subject to a summer condition: from San Vito, drive to Baita Sunbar and park there. Then follow the footpath along the forest road that starts behind it, on the orographic right-hand side of the Ru Secco. The walk takes about two hours. The starting point at Baita Sunbar and the approximate walking time give this outing a different time frame from the ten-minute walk from the center to Lago di Mosigo.

Art in the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa

Another distinctive feature of the town is the triptych on the main altar of the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa. It is attributed to Francesco Vecellio.
