Cherz offers a range of activities and local attractions to help you plan your trip. If you are considering the area as a destination, you can choose from a circular hike, a route between the plateau and Arabba, or a winter tour. The meadows of the Cherz Plateau, cheese-making and the small Church of the Holy Cross also round out the options with scenery, local food and a cultural attraction.

Hiking between Cherz and Arabba

The CAI hiking route connects the Cherz Plateau with Arabba. It climbs through a forest to the plateau; another stretch leads from Rifugio Cherz back to Arabba. The “Path of the Hunter” circular trail passes through the high-altitude passes of Cherz, is of moderate difficulty and takes 4–5 hours. This time estimate offers a practical guide for planning your day. The routes can be distinguished by their different features: one connects the plateau and Arabba, while the other is a moderately difficult circular hike with a stated duration.

On the “Path of the Hunter,” an unpaved road leads to Cherz and past the alpine dairy of the same name. The loop then crosses pastures with views of the small hamlets of Cherz and Masarei. The change from road to pasture gives the trail two distinct sections. Several circular trails continue from the Cherz Plateau; the meadows invite you to rest at altitude. The plateau is therefore both a hiking destination and a starting point for further circular trails.

Winter Tours and Lift Area

In winter, the Cherz Plateau can be reached from Passo di Campolongo on snowshoes or touring skis. As snow and ice can change trail conditions, check conditions before setting out. Both activities start from the same place but use different means of travel. Cherz 1 is a four-seat chairlift in the Arabba lift area.

Cheese, Mountain Biking and the Church

Alongside Renaz, Fodom and Contrin, Latteria di Livinallongo also produces Cherz cheese. It also makes fresh and aged ricotta. The name Cherz therefore refers both to the place and to one of the dairy’s cheeses. In the hamlet of Renaz, an artisanal cheese dairy is located on the Pralongià MTB route and is suitable for a visit and tasting its varieties.

The Pralongià MTB tour climbs from Renaz to the hamlet of Cherz and then continues along a gravel road to Passo Incisa. The sequence of Renaz, Cherz and Passo Incisa gives you an idea of the mountain bike tour’s route. If you would like to combine an outing with a culinary experience, you can consider the dairy in Renaz as a place to visit and sample its products.

The small church in Cherz is dedicated to the Holy Cross (Santa Croce). The two names make its dedication clear in German and Italian. As a local cultural attraction, the church complements the routes, plateau and cheese-related attractions.
