Alleghe: Lake, Mountain and Local History
Accommodation in Alleghe
Monte Civetta rises 3,220 metres above Alleghe and, together with Lake Alleghe, forms a closely connected landscape. The lake and mountain give your stay two clear points of reference. There are also hiking and cycling options, as well as a local history that can be explored through specific places and events.
The Lake and Local History
Lake Alleghe was formed in 1771, after a landslide dammed the watercourse. In the centre of Alleghe stands the church dedicated to Saint Blaise, which was largely rebuilt after the landslide. The event is therefore a chronological reference point for both the landscape and the architectural history of the town.
The tourism tradition also goes back a long way, dating back to the 19th century. This historical background complements the landscape with the development of Alleghe as a destination. The formation of the lake in 1771 predates the tourism tradition, which dates back to the 19th century.
Hiking, Cable Car and Mountain Biking
Hiking in Alleghe ranges from easy valley walks and hikes at higher elevations to challenging via ferrata routes. Cable cars from the town centre take you to high-altitude viewpoints. For your planning, there are different types of routes to choose from, as well as a cable-car connection to the viewpoints.
Alleghe offers mountain-bike routes for the whole family, as well as trails for experienced mountain bikers. Hiking options range from valley walks to via ferrata routes, while mountain biking ranges from family-friendly routes to trails for experienced riders. This lets you choose how to spend your time, whether on foot or by mountain bike.
In the forest at Piani di Pezzè, Civetta Adventure Park has four courses with different levels of difficulty. They feature wooden walkways, logs, Tibetan bridges and lianas. The courses combine different levels of challenge with specific obstacles.
Water Activities and Practical Information
From Masarè, you can reach the Ru de Rialt waterfalls by taking a short detour along a trail. You can rent pedal boats on Via Lungolago; a trip on the lake takes about an hour. These offer different points of reference for planning your time: a short trail detour to the waterfalls and an approximately one-hour boat trip.
IAT Alleghe provides tourist information and reservation services, and sells tickets for public transport and the ski bus. For specific journeys, it is also helpful to check the relevant timetable.
