Hiking, views, architecture, sport climbing and cuisine offer a range of different highlights. The municipality of Teglio is home to several cultural and natural attractions, including a route classified as easy and historic buildings, each with its own character.

Hiking and Sport Climbing

The La Piana–Corna Marinella walking trail is one of the easy hiking routes in the municipality of Teglio. The route offers views of Monte Cancano; to the southeast, the Adamello group can be seen between the peaks of the Orobie range. This identifies two specific views: Monte Cancano and, between the Orobie peaks, the mountain group visible to the southeast. The route also takes you to the barrier at the start of the Pista Forestale della Corna Marinella forest track.

If you are comparing walking trails and sport climbing as different travel interests, the contrast is clear: the trail is classified as easy, while sport climbing is possible at the Falesia di Castelvetro in the municipality of Teglio. These are two distinct types of activity, and the hiking trail’s classification does not apply to the climbing crag.

Palaces, a Church and the History of Milling

The municipality of Teglio is home to Palazzo Besta, a Renaissance palace. On the ground floor is the Antiquarium Tellinum, a collection of engraved stelae from the Copper Age. The building brings together two distinct themes: Renaissance architecture and archaeological evidence from a much earlier period. If you are interested in architecture, the palace takes centre stage; the collection offers a separate way to explore the history of the Copper Age.

San Pietro offers a different perspective on architectural history. Built in the 11th century, the church features Romanesque architecture influenced by the Como and Ticino regions. In contrast to the Renaissance palace, it represents an earlier period and a different architectural tradition. The two buildings can therefore be distinguished by period and style, rather than grouped together under a general impression of historic architecture.

The Mulino Menaglio adds agriculture and food to these themes. It is the best-preserved example of the typical watermills that were once widespread throughout the area. The mill houses a small museum about agricultural work and food habits associated with grain cultivation. This broadens the focus from the palace, church and archaeological collection to the work and everyday life connected with grain growing. The mill also represents the former prevalence of these watermills in the area.

Views and Planning Your Visit

La Corna offers a panorama of the Adda River and the Orobie valley side opposite. Another viewpoint is the upper terrace of the Torre “de li Beli Miri,” which offers views stretching around 60 kilometres. Interior visits to the tower are limited to special events. Check before travelling to see whether a visit is scheduled for your dates.

Pizzoccheri and Local Cuisine

Teglio is considered the home of Pizzoccheri, a dish regarded as a defining feature of the local cuisine. If food is an important part of your trip, Pizzoccheri offer a distinct culinary highlight alongside hiking, scenery and culture.
