Cedrasco offers points of interest for a stay focused on architectural and technological history, as well as mountain scenery. Val Cervia begins at the town centre, where a deep gorge carved by the Cervio stream lies, and extends to Corno Stella at 2,621 metres. The parish church of Sant’Agostino and the Oberti Mill offer different historical perspectives; the valley adds glacial landforms, habitats and a hiking trail to Rifugio Rododendro to these themes. When choosing a hotel, you can therefore consider whether you want to focus mainly on the cultural heritage or the landscape of Val Cervia. The gorge at the town centre and the U-shaped profile in the upper valley show two different landforms.

Val Cervia: Glacial Landscape and Habitats

In its upper section, Val Cervia has a U-shaped glacial profile. Moraines, glacial cirques and inactive rock glaciers are also part of the landscape. Val Cervia also has ten habitats of community importance in the Natura 2000 network, including two priority habitats. The glacial landforms and the habitats found here offer different perspectives on nature; for those interested in natural history, both viewpoints complement one another.

Access to the rural settlement of Bugli is via a steep uphill paved road, followed by a short, easily walkable mule track.

Sant’Agostino and the Oberti Mill

The parish church of Sant’Agostino has an ancient foundation and was rebuilt in the Baroque period. At the main altar is a painting by Pietro Ligari dated 1742. It depicts the Madonna and Child, Saint Augustine, a soldier, a putto and Saint Thomas. This combines an architectural connection to the Baroque period with a precisely dated work of art.

The Oberti Mill is a building constructed from local stone in the 19th century and recently restored by the municipality. The water channel and waterwheel beside the mill have also been restored; the channel diverts water from the nearby Cervio stream. Inside, the mechanisms formerly powered by water have been preserved, including a pair of large stone millstones and a hopper above them. When choosing between the two cultural attractions, consider that Sant’Agostino focuses on architectural history and painting, while the Oberti Mill highlights former water-powered technology and its preserved mechanisms.

Hiking Trail to Rifugio Rododendro

A hiking trail from Cedrasco follows the Campelli–Arale gravel access road to Rifugio Rododendro at an altitude of 1,265 metres. The refuge is located in Campelli, above Cedrasco in Val Cervia. Its facilities include a kitchen, a wood-burning stove, bathrooms, electricity and water, as well as ten bunk-bed sleeping places. Before planning to use it, check its seasonal opening and availability.
