Villa Di Serio: Parks, Trails and History
Accommodation in Villa Di Serio
Villa Di Serio brings together green spaces, trails and historic buildings, making it a destination for travelers who want to include nature and culture in their stay. According to the municipality’s organizational document for 2025–2027, its numerous parks cover approximately 400,000 square meters of green space, equivalent to 60 square meters per resident. Villa Di Serio is also one of the municipalities in Parco del Serio Nord, which extends for approximately 15 kilometers along the Serio River.
Green spaces and trails
The Sentiero Natura runs for approximately three kilometers along both slopes of the Valle Capla. Information signs describe tree and shrub species, and the trail also passes through several different habitats. Access is via Via Valeria, as far as a small stone bridge over the Rio Capla. Its approximate length, signage and variety of habitats give the trail a nature-focused character. Anyone interested in plants and habitats will find specific topics to explore outdoors here.
The Pista da Villa di Serio ad Albino offers a different focus. It passes over small bridges, alongside irrigation ditches and canals, and across a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Serio, which makes a good viewpoint for a short break. The route starts in Villa Di Serio; you can park at the starting point and take the pedestrian and cycle route north. Parking arrangements may change, so check them before you travel.
The Vescovado Trail runs through the hills of Villa Di Serio and Scanzorosciate. It also leads from the riverside park between Villa Di Serio and Alzano Lombardo toward the center of Villa Di Serio. The trails have different focuses: the Sentiero Natura highlights plants and habitats, the Pista bridges and waterways, and the Vescovado Trail hills and the route toward the center. This lets you plan your day around the subjects that interest you.
History and sacred art
The present-day Santuario della Beata Vergine del Buon Consiglio was consecrated in 1904, replacing the earlier building. Villa Carrara consists of three sections built between the 15th and 18th centuries. Its grand rooms are elegantly decorated. The sanctuary’s history is linked to the consecration of the present building and its predecessor, while Villa Carrara’s character is shaped by its different construction periods and interior design.
The Cappella di San Lorenzo was built in 1768 and is used for Eucharistic adoration as well as serving as a funeral chapel. The parish church of Villa Di Serio contains frescoes dating from the 16th century. A banner depicting the resurrected Christ by Giovan Battista Moroni is also kept in the sacristy. These sacred places therefore showcase different aspects: the chapel’s use, preserved paintings and a specifically attributed work of art.
If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Villa Di Serio, you can prioritize nature trails, architectural history and sacred art when planning your days.
