Bossico offers trails through meadows and forests, views of Lake Iseo and historic buildings. When planning your visit, the route type and elevation are practical reference points, as are the different periods to which the churches, chapels and villas date.

Hiking Trails and Scenery

The Bossico plateau has a network of 50 kilometres of trails through meadows and forests, with views of Lake Iseo. Sentiero 553 starts in the higher part of Bossico at 875 metres and leads across the meadows of Onìt (Onito). In spring, buttercups, daisies and forget-me-nots are among the flowers that bloom there. For those interested in the seasonal landscape, this trail brings together a route, elevation and spring flowers.

The Sette Colli loop starts and ends in Località Pila, at car park 1, and offers views of Lake Iseo and Monte Isola. The Pozza d’Ast route includes a 2.5-kilometre linear option that climbs from 1,030 to 1,290 metres. It reaches a plateau with views of the River Po and the Apennines, when visibility is clear. The two routes have different formats: Sette Colli is a loop with the same start and finish, while the Pozza d’Ast option is linear and climbs uphill.

Cycling and Walking Routes

The Percorso Rosso MTB loop is rated between moderate and easy. It includes singletrack and gravel roads, as well as technically challenging descents. Taken together, these features give a more specific picture of the route than the difficulty rating alone. The Percorso Nero MTB loop starts and ends at the Pro Loco office at Via Giardini 1. The Bossico–Ceratello Nordic walking route starts in Piazza S. Pietro, Bossico’s main square.

Churches, Chapels and Villas

At the entrance to Bossico stands the parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, which is thought to date from around 1500. The chapel of San Rocco is also dated to this period: it is at the end of Via Bonomelli, just beyond the old washhouse. By contrast, the year 1902 is recorded for the chapel at Colle San Fermo. Above the altar is a fresco depicting Saint Fermo, the Madonna and various domestic animals.

The historic buildings on the Bossico plateau also include villas built by the bourgeoisie in the 19th century. Several specific periods are represented: the parish church, thought to date from around 1500; the chapel of San Rocco, from the same period; the chapel dated 1902; and the 19th-century villas. The location details help distinguish the individual buildings.

Woodland Retreat, Cheese and Festival

In a forest clearing, Il Respiro del Bosco features a meditation area with an information board and hammocks. The aged cheese “Bossico stagionato” is also described in specific terms: it is matured for 7 to 10 months and produced according to a specific production specification. The Gruppo Alpini di Bossico festival takes place at Pozza d’Ast every year in July, on the second or third weekend of the month. The date may vary between those two weekends.
