Those looking for a hotel in Mozzo can think of the town in terms of two distinct interests: hills, panoramic views and the Ciclovia dei Colli e del Brembo offer landscapes and a cycling route, while buildings and historic sites provide a glimpse into the area’s cultural history. When planning your trip, it is worth keeping these points of interest separate: for the Ciclovia, the route and distance are relevant; for the historic sites, the different periods and architectural styles matter.

Hills, Panoramic Views and a Cycling Route

A spur of the Bergamo hills extends into the municipality of Mozzo, reaching elevations of up to 357 m. From the hilltops, you can see the old walled city of Bergamo, the modern city, the plain and the Brembo Valley. Part of the municipal area also lies within the boundaries of Parco dei Colli. The elevation and the views describe different aspects of the landscape: the ridge extending into Mozzo and the sights visible from the hilltops.

The Ciclovia dei Colli e del Brembo offers a specific point of interest for cyclists. Its main loop is about 46 km long; the route passes Mozzo’s vineyards and the green cycle path at the foot of Monte Gussa. The distance and local landmarks answer different planning questions: the mileage refers to the main loop, while the vineyards and cycle path describe the route’s connection to Mozzo. Route information is from October 2025; check distances, signage and the route before setting off.

Historic Buildings in Mozzo

The historic center of Mozzo di Sopra preserves important elements of medieval and rural fortification architecture. A Gothic portal from the now-vanished church of San Lorenzo has also been preserved in Mozzo di Sopra. These two details offer different perspectives: the center represents fortification architecture, while the portal is a reminder of a church that no longer exists.

Villa Lochis, known as “La Pinacoteca,” was built in 1840 to a design by Ticino architect Fontana. Villa Albani is an 18th-century villa with an Italian garden. In the park of Villa Bagnada stands a public oratory dedicated to Saint Francis, dating from 1661. The Oratory of San Giuseppe at Villa Dorotina is decorated with frescoes and dates from the 17th century.

The dates help distinguish the sites: the oratory at Villa Bagnada is dated to a specific year, while Villa Albani and the Oratory of San Giuseppe are assigned to a century. Villa Lochis adds the year 1840 to this historical overview. Alongside the preserved portal in Mozzo di Sopra, these sites provide an overview of different historical landmarks, rather than presenting a single building as representative of the entire town.

La Porta del Parco

Another local point of interest is La Porta del Parco. The site includes a vineyard, an orchard, community and social gardens, and a children’s playground. It is connected to footpaths and cycle paths for excursions. The gardens and the paths are both central to this site; in this respect, it differs from the villas and oratories, which are described in terms of their construction dates, architecture or features.

Cultural and artistic events, workshops and recreational activities take place at La Porta del Parco. The events program may change; check the schedule before visiting. When choosing what to explore, consider whether you’d like to experience Mozzo mainly for its hills and cycling route, its historic buildings, or the different spaces and events at La Porta del Parco.
