Recco offers a range of starting points for planning your trip: the coast and its promenade, historic churches, trails and a local focaccia tradition. If you are looking for a hotel in Recco, you can first consider whether you would like to focus your stay more on the coast, culinary experiences, or architecture and history.

Coast, beaches and trails

The Lungomare Bettolo runs along the coast of Recco and offers panoramic views of the Golfo Paradiso. You can reach the promenade on foot or by bicycle; it is suitable for walks and outdoor activities. Access to the Lungomare Bettolo and the parking facilities there are accessible to wheelchair users.

There are two equipped beaches in the town centre. Recco Beach, near the park, is considered particularly suitable for children because of its shallow seabed and a play area. On the hills, trails lead up from the sea into the valley. The network of trails also includes historic routes and offers panoramic views. This means you can consider the coastal promenade and the trails, with their different landscape settings, as separate ways to spend time outdoors.

Focaccia and culinary events

Focaccia col formaggio originated in Recco and became established there as a traditional dish. As Focaccia di Recco col formaggio, it holds the protected geographical indication IGP (Indicazione geografica protetta). You can also experience local cuisine at various events and as part of local traditions.

The Sagra del Fuoco is an annual tradition in Recco dating back to 1824. The Festa della Focaccia takes place on the fourth Sunday in May; for your travel plans, check the programme for the relevant year. The Mangialonga in the Golfo Paradiso is a culinary walk along the creuze and trails of the area. At the Sagra delle Focaccette on the hill of Megli, fried focaccette with cheese are offered. These highlights represent different experiences: a long-standing tradition, a culinary walk and a specific cheese-filled pastry.

Churches, architecture and remembrance

The Chiesa di San Giovanni Bono e Battista was inaugurated on 1 May 1951; its square bell tower is 55 metres high. The Chiesa di San Rocco was restored in the 19th century. Among other works, the vault was repainted and the bell tower was built. The church contains three altars dedicated to San Rocco, Nostra Signora degli Angeli, and Saints Giacomo and Filippo.

The present-day church of San Francesco was completed in 1955. The Santuario della Madonna del Suffragio dates from the mid-18th century and has a tall bell tower. A thorn is kept in the Chiesa di Nostra Signora delle Grazie in Megli, believed to be from the Crown of Christ.

The Parco della Rimembranza contains a shrine for 127 civilian victims of the 1943–44 bombings. The park is also accessible to people with disabilities. The Biblioteca Civica Ippolito d'Aste includes the Sala Polivalente Franco Lavoratori, which is used for cultural events and activities.
