Forlimpopoli offers cultural history from several perspectives: archaeological finds, historic architecture, sacred art, theatre and food culture each provide a different focus. If you’re looking for a hotel for a culture-focused stay, these themes can help you choose a destination that matches your interests. The collections vary considerably—from the remains of a Romanesque cathedral to motorcycles and scooters.

Fortress and archaeological collection

The Rocca di Forlimpopoli features imposing walls with bastions, distinctive towers, a moat and a drawbridge. The MAF Archaeological Museum is housed in the rooms of the Renaissance fortress, Rocca Ordelaffa. Its exhibition includes remains of the 12th-century Romanesque cathedral of Santa Maria foropopiliense. The focus is therefore on tangible archaeological finds connected with a named church and a specific period.

Motorcycles and scooters

The Collezione Elio Brunelli Museum offers a very different focus: across 650 square metres, it displays Moto Guzzi motorcycles from 1930 to 1970. There is also a room with numerous Lambretta scooters. Unlike the MAF Archaeological Museum, the collection here focuses on motorised two-wheelers and how they are presented. If you’re interested in these vehicles, Forlimpopoli offers another clearly defined cultural theme.

The stage, cinema and sacred art

The Teatro Verdi was inaugurated in 1830 and today serves as both a theatre and a cinema. The Chiesa dei Servi houses Marco Palmezzano’s 1533 Annunciation altarpiece. The Basilica di San Rufillo preserves funerary monuments to Brunoro I and Brunoro II. These places represent different forms of cultural heritage: a venue with a dual stage function, a dated altarpiece and two funerary monuments. When choosing what interests you, you can distinguish between theatre history, painting and commemorative heritage.

Casa Artusi and food culture

The Casa Artusi gastronomic cultural centre includes the courtyard, the recipe gallery, the Chiesa dei Servi di Maria, the loggia, the gastronomic library, the library and memorabilia of Pellegrino Artusi, as well as the cooking school. Its themes range from recipes and culinary education to the library and memorabilia. Casa Artusi is also easy to reach: Forlimpopoli-Bertinoro railway station is a five-minute walk away. Check Casa Artusi’s current visitor information before your visit.

The Premio Artusi

The Premio Artusi also makes food culture a theme in the town. Forlimpopoli awards the prize every year to a person who has made an original contribution to exploring the relationship between people and food. The deciding factor is therefore not just a dish or a recipe idea, but the contribution to the discussion of food and people. The prize complements Casa Artusi’s tangible offerings with an annual award centred on this theme.

Acquedotto Spinadello

The original water-supply wells have been preserved within the fenced grounds of Acquedotto Spinadello. The building was restored in 2012–2013 to serve as a visitor centre for Parco dei Meandri del Fiume Ronco. The preserved wells bring the history of the water supply to life, while the building is intended to serve as a visitor centre for Parco dei Meandri del Fiume Ronco. Alongside the museums, churches and cultural institutions, Spinadello offers another perspective on the town: the history of its water supply and its connection to the river park.
