Discover Brokdorf
Accommodation in Brokdorf
Brokdorf combines a distinctive church building with leisure activities on the Elbe, at the swimming pool and on the ice. The wider Steinburg destination also offers its own cultural and landscape attractions, which you can take into account when planning a broader trip.
St. Nicholas Church
St. Nicholas Church was rebuilt in 1763 as a brick hall church. Its architectural features include a wooden barrel vault and a pulpit altar. The interior was restored to reflect its appearance before 1962. The church interior therefore brings together features of the 18th-century reconstruction and a later return to the earlier interior design. The church is generally open to visitors during the day. If you would like to visit it specifically, plan your visit for daytime.
Water, ice sports and activity area
Local facilities include an Elbe bathing spot, a swimming pool with a water slide and a multigenerational activity area beside the church. There are therefore several distinct local places to visit: the riverside bathing spot, the swimming pool and the activity area by the church.
The Elbe Ice Stadium is located in Brokdorf, within the wider Steinburg destination. It offers ice skating, ice hockey, curling, ice discos and children’s birthday parties. The stadium complements the water-based activities with a dedicated focus on ice sports. Check the current operating season before visiting to make sure your plans match your intended travel dates.

The Detlefsen Museum in Glückstadt provides a comprehensive picture of Glückstadt and the Holstein Elbe marshes, past and present. In Itzehoe, the Prinzeßhof District Museum is housed in the city’s oldest secular building; it presents the history and cultural history of the Steinburg district in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Wenzel Hablik Museum in Itzehoe displays the artist’s estate, including paintings, drawings, designs for utopian space settlements, furniture and textiles, as well as collections of shell and metal figures.
Wacken Open Air is one of Steinburg’s distinctive event attractions. It takes place annually at the festival grounds in Wacken and is one of the world’s largest heavy metal festivals.
