Glasow lies in a hilly landscape. For planning a trip, the village’s history, its church and its inclusion in regional tourism offerings provide useful points of reference. These historical landmarks and a range of themes can help you get a broader picture of the area as a destination.

Village History and Streithof

Glasow was first mentioned in 1497 as a Bauderndorf in connection with Hohenholz. Streithof was established as an outlying estate of Hohenholz on Glasow territory and was an Alt-Eickstedt estate until June 30, 1939. The dates refer to different things: 1497 is the first mention of Glasow, while June 30, 1939 marks the end of the period during which Streithof was an estate. This distinction helps separate the history of the village from that of the outlying estate, without mistaking the information about Streithof for Glasow’s founding date.

The Church of Glasow

The Church of Glasow is a flat-roofed fieldstone building dating from the 13th century. Its east side features three narrow lancet windows. The wooden tower structure with its Neo-Baroque dome dates from 1891; the pulpit is late Renaissance in style and dates to 1698. The church therefore brings together several features from different periods: the 13th-century building, the 1698 pulpit and the tower structure from the late 19th century. Visitors interested in architecture can discover a variety of details here, from the fieldstone construction and windows to the design of the tower and pulpit.

Regional Themes and Excursions

Glasow is part of a tourism partnership with Penkun, Krackow and Grambow. The partnership promotes cycling routes, riding trails, museums, attractions, places to eat and accommodation. This offers a broader perspective for planning a trip beyond the village’s history, with themes ranging from outdoor activities to culture and dining.

Broader regional travel plans can also include a variety of leisure activities. The Randow Valley can be explored by boat and also has cycling and hiking trails. At Lake Löcknitz, there is a walking path and a bathing facility. The focus in the Randow Valley is on trails and exploring by boat, while information about the lake relates to walking and swimming.
