Alt Krenzlin brings together village history, a cultural venue and local events. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Alt Krenzlin, these topics may play a role in choosing your destination: Would you like to explore historic village layouts, discover a varied cultural program or plan your stay around a festival date?

Village history in Klein Krams, Krenzliner HĂĽtte and Loosen

Krenzliner Hütte grew out of a peat-glassworks established on the Klein Krams peat bog in 1743. The glassworks was abandoned in 1779. Only the place name and the field name Glasschmelze remain. The glassworks is therefore part of the village’s history, not one of the architectural sights that survive today.

Klein Krams still has the layout of a classic circular village. Loosen was also originally laid out as a circular village; at the same time, it is the oldest and highest-lying place in the municipality of Alt Krenzlin. Loosen lies at 54 m above sea level. This distinction is useful when considering the area’s history: Klein Krams is described in terms of its layout, which has survived to this day, while Loosen is described in terms of its original layout as a circular village.

Cultural offerings at the kramserei

The kramserei is a cultural venue in a historic farm building with a hall and stage, a stable and a coach house. Its offerings include a ceramics workshop, theater, live radio plays and cinema. There is also a garden café, a farm shop, a stable bistro, a flea-market barn and market days. Rooms for seminars and workshops round out the offerings. Alongside the area’s history, this provides a distinct cultural focal point encompassing a variety of events and opportunities to meet.

Trails and nature in Klein Krams Ausbau

The route information describes two different options: A designated bridle path runs from the stud farm in Neustadt Dosse to Redefin and passes directly by the weather shelter in Klein Krams Ausbau. The cycle path between Göhlen and Leussow gives cyclists the option of making a detour to Klein Krams Ausbau. The bridle path and cycle path are not the same route.

The small weather shelter in the Ausbau offers a direct view of the Ludwigslust Canal and the biotope around the fish ladder. It is a possible stopping point for walkers and cyclists from the surrounding villages and municipalities. Both the view of the water and biotope and its potential use as a rest stop are part of the area’s connection with nature.

In the Alt Krenzlin district, there is a rest and recreation area by the bus turning loop, inaugurated in March 2024. It has play equipment, and one section is fenced off for safety reasons. A bench and three newly planted trees are also part of the area, which invites visitors, cyclists and hikers to stop and take a break.

Festivals at different times of the year

Since 1982, a village festival for all districts of the municipality has traditionally been held in the potato barn of Agrarproduktion Alt Krenzlin e.G. in Krenzliner Hütte. Another annual tradition is the Children’s Day party, organized by the localities and municipalities of Alt Krenzlin, Glaisin, Göhlen and Leussow. The event held in Klein Krams on June 7, 2026, included archery and activities with the fire department, among other things.

Past events also offer a glimpse of local festivities: The Alt Krenzlin municipality’s Oktoberfest was held for the third consecutive year at the community center in Loosen on September 13, 2025. On April 30, 2026, a decorated maypole was once again traditionally erected in Alt Krenzlin, as in the previous year. If you would like to plan your trip around a festival, check the date for the relevant year.

When choosing a destination, the village layouts and the kramserei offer different points of interest from the dated festival events: History and culture can be explored independently of a single event date, while attending a festival requires suitable timing.
