Planning your visit also varies: a circular walking route, tours by prior arrangement and facilities at bathing areas that change seasonally each require different preparation.

Rensow Manor Park: Park History and Circular Walking Route

Rensow Manor Park is more than 300 years old. Its origins lie in a former Wendish fortification dating from the 9th century. The park was initially designed as a Baroque park; in the 19th century, it was transformed into an English landscape garden. Its structure is still discernible. The historic origins and later design can therefore be viewed as two distinct phases in the park’s history. The manor park is open to the public and has a circular walking route. A map is available at the manor house. If you would like to walk the route, you can use the map for guidance; check access and map availability again before your visit.

Belitz Manor House: Architecture, Tours and Rooms

Belitz Manor House is an Art Nouveau mansion dating from 1906. Tours are offered in rooms designed in keeping with the original style, and must be arranged in advance. So don’t plan a tour as a spontaneous visit. For overnight stays, the house offers rooms in a historic setting. Coffee and cake are served in the Leutestube, while Mecklenburg specialities are served in the Kontor. Accommodation, tours and dining are different offerings at the same house. If you are planning around a tour or a meal, check in advance whether the relevant offering is available.

Bathing Areas at the Neu Heinden Lakes

The bathing areas at the two Neu Heinden lakes have jetties on their eastern shores. There are also shallow, sandy entry points, considered particularly suitable for small children. The bathing areas also have grassy areas and jetties for picnicking. To choose between a swim and a picnic, you can distinguish between these features: the sandy entry point concerns access to the water, while the grassy areas and jetties provide a setting for a picnic. Water and beach conditions may vary; facilities may also be available differently depending on the season.

Schwiessel Castle: Tudor Style and Reconstruction

Schwiessel Castle was built in the Tudor style by the Bassewitz family in 1864. The castle was rebuilt from a ruin and is considered a cultural and historic building open to the public. Its year of construction, style and reconstruction are the key points in its architectural history. This offers a different perspective from the sequence of design phases at Rensow Manor Park.

If you would like to trace the evolution of park design over time, Rensow Manor Park offers several clearly defined phases of development. At Belitz Manor House and Schwiessel Castle, by contrast, the focus is on architecture. For a focus on the water, the bathing areas at the Neu Heinden lakes offer other points of interest. This allows you to plan your trip around whichever interest is most important to you.
