Uckerfelde lies southeast of Prenzlau in a ground moraine area between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and the Randow. Several features can help you decide where to go: the roads and rail connection, the architectural history of the village churches, the rural landscape, a cycling route and a long-distance riding route. These cultural and landscape points of interest help place Uckerfelde in context as a destination. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Uckerfelde, these features can help you choose your destination.

Transport and orientation

The B 198 runs between Prenzlau and AngermĂĽnde through the Uckerfelde districts of Bietikow and HohengĂĽstow. In addition, the transport junction connecting the A 11, A 20 and B 166 lies partly within Uckerfelde. This means that both a specific road connection through two districts and a regional transport hub can help with orientation.

The nearest rail connection is in Prenzlau, about ten kilometres from Uckerfelde. This is an approximate distance. If you are planning to travel by train, check the current connections so you can factor this reference point into your travel plans.

Churches and architectural history

The churches differ in their building materials and design. The church in Falkenwalde was built around 1250 as a rectangular fieldstone structure. It has a narrower rectangular choir and a west tower set crosswise to the main building. Hohengüstow’s church, by contrast, is a rectangular brick structure with a west tower, dating from the second half of the 13th century. The comparison shows two different building styles: fieldstone in Falkenwalde and brick in Hohengüstow.

HohengĂĽstow church also contains two heraldic tombstones. They commemorate Tugendreich von der Weiden, who died in 1677, and Otto Ludwig von Warnstedt, who died in 1678. The churches in Bertikow and Bietikow are each protected heritage monuments. The cultural and historical perspective thus ranges from medieval architectural styles to named memorials from the 17th century and the protected status of the two churches in Bertikow and Bietikow.

Landscape and routes

Uckerfelde has a lake-rich rural setting shaped by intensive agriculture and numerous wind turbines. Its abundance of water and agricultural character are equally part of the landscape. When choosing a destination, you can consider these features together rather than associating Uckerfelde with just one aspect of its landscape.

The highest elevations within Uckerfelde are Hoher Berg at 104 metres and Bollenberg at 103 metres above sea level. The difference between the two elevations is just one metre; together, they provide a brief measure of the local topography.

The routes also differ in activity and course: the Museum Tour is a cycling route through the districts of Bertikow and Falkenwalde. The Berlin–Usedom long-distance riding route passes through Bietikow. If you are including either route in your plans, check its current course in advance.

The Uckermark as a regional setting

Within the broader Uckermark destination, the Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park lies in a water-rich, gently rolling landscape. Its features include clear-water lakes, kettle holes and bogs. The nature park has more than 150 kilometres of water trails and over 600 kilometres of signposted hiking trails. These regional figures add a distinct landscape and activity context specifically linked to the Uckermark to the picture of Uckerfelde.
