There are several ways to plan a trip to Spreenhagen, with a focus on water activities, cycling or cultural history. When planning, you can decide whether you are more interested in a guided raft trip, a cycling route or insights into the history of individual places.

Water and cycling route

Gasthaus Paesch offers water tours and raft trips on the Alte MĂĽggelspree. Its offerings include daily guided raft trips on the MĂĽggelspree for up to 16 people. Check availability before your trip. During the raft trips, homemade potato salad and meat patties or kettle goulash, as well as drinks, are served. If the food is important to your plans, confirm the current menu details in advance.

The Oder-Spree Tour is a cycling route that passes through Spreenhagen. This sets it apart from the offerings at Gasthaus Paesch: the cycling route focuses on travelling by bike, while the inn offers water tours and raft trips. This lets you choose whether to prioritise a cycling or water-based activity when planning your day.

Architecture and local history

The three-aisled church in Markgrafpieske was built from sandstone and brick in the Neo-Gothic style between 1896 and 1898. The term “three-aisled” describes the layout of the church interior, with a central nave and two side aisles; the dates place the building in the late 19th century. Its design, style and materials make the church a specific point of interest for architecture enthusiasts.

The Markgrafpieske Local History House is located near Spreenhagen. It displays furnishings from Markgrafpieske and the surrounding area, while old documents and photographs tell the story of the town. Visits are possible by appointment. The house regularly hosts book readings and slide presentations; visitors are asked to register by phone.

In the municipal district of Lebbin, the thatched house, which is around 300 years old, now houses a gallery and a picture-framing workshop. The two places offer different experiences: the Local History House explores local history, while the thatched house combines a historic building with a gallery and workshop.

A break along the Spree Cycle Route

Holly’s Galerie Café is located directly on the Spree Cycle Route in the municipal district of Hartmannsdorf. It is a good place to take a break and enjoy freshly prepared coffee and homemade cakes. Unlike the raft trips, the focus here is on taking a break along the cycle route; a visit to the café can be included as a rest stop on a cycling tour.

Oder-Spree: regional context

Lake Scharmützel is also part of the broader Oder-Spree travel destination. It covers around 1,200 hectares and is about 30 metres deep; visibility in the water reaches up to four metres. Its clear waters attract anglers, divers, sailors and swimmers to the region. Gasthaus Paesch’s raft trips take place on the Müggelspree; Lake Scharmützel is a separate body of water within Oder-Spree.

The Neuzelle Baroque Garden is also part of the broader Oder-Spree travel destination. It was restored using original plans from the 1758 Abbey Atlas and covers five hectares. Baroque avenues, water features and terraces shape the garden, adding another cultural-history attraction to the regional picture.
