For a stay in Weißling, the easy walking loop and St. Notburga Church offer two specific points of reference for planning your trip.

Hiking and Scenery in Weißling

The easy walking loop passes through Glonnbercha, Waltenhofen, and Weißling, crossing Weißlinger Wood to the hill before Weißling. It passes a picnic bench at Berghanerl and then continues to the “Petershauser Wendelstein.”

The loop is 10 or 13 kilometers long. These two distances give you a specific basis for planning. Check local route conditions before setting out.

Weißlinger Wood is one of the scattered woodland areas that characterize the landscape around Petershausen, shaped by hills and hollows. The woodland and terrain provide a scenic setting for the route, distinct from the local history surrounding St. Notburga.

St. Notburga: History and Dedication

The small Church of St. Notburga in Weißling was built between 1750 and 1752 to replace a wooden chapel that had stood there for some time. It is the only pilgrimage church in Bavaria dedicated to Saint Notburga. Its construction period, predecessor building, and dedication offer different ways to learn about the history of the place.

In the wider destination of Petershausen

Seven varied hiking trails, ranging from 8 to 13 kilometers, run through the area around Petershausen. A shorter point of reference is the approximately 200-meter-long nature trail in the forest east of Petershausen, above the “Über der Glonn” residential area. It was created by the Petershausen branch of the Bund Naturschutz. Landmarks along the routes around Petershausen include the wedding site near Obermarbach, Jaudusplatz on Kreuzberg, and Sollerner Friedensplatz.

At the wedding grove east of Obermarbach, residents can plant a fruit tree for special occasions, such as weddings and baptisms. An approximately 1.5 m² sound stone is located nearby. Its vibrations can be heard, felt, and seen by drumming on it.

The field monument in Kollbach lies at the southern edge of the Glonn Valley, west of the village at the former sports field. It is designed as an approximately 50-meter-long earth sculpture in the shape of a landscape dragon. From its head, there is a view across the Glonn Valley.

For a longer bike tour, the wider destination of Petershausen also offers a specific point of reference: the 42-kilometer Dachauer Oxenweg follows the trail of oxen along the Zeitlbach and Glonn valleys. It starts in Tödtenried, passes sights in Altomünster, Markt Indersdorf, and Petershausen, and ends in Hohenkammer. Check local route information before setting out. The section of the Glonn through Petershausen is 5.6 kilometers long; the Oxenweg is 42 kilometers in total.
