Ruhmannsfelden combines a protected landscape area with a natural swimming lake, seasonal hiking activities and local cultural attractions. You can weigh up which of these aspects will shape your stay by considering specific features of the town, from the course of the Ruhmannsfeldener Leite to the pools at the natural swimming lake.

Landscape on the southern edge of town

The Ruhmannsfeldener Leite, also called Leithe, follows the course of the Teisnach Gorge south from Osterbrünnl in a northeasterly direction. It lies on the southern edge of Ruhmannsfelden, parallel to the railway line, and has been a protected landscape area since around 1967. Both names refer to the same landscape area. Its connection to the Teisnach Gorge and its location on the edge of town are defining features of this natural attraction.

Natural swimming lake and bathing areas

The Ruhmannsfelden natural swimming lake lies on the western edge of town. It measures over 50 m × 30 m, is fed by drinking water and offers chlorine-free swimming with monitored water quality. The lake has swimming, non-swimmer and toddler pools. The protected Leite landscape and the natural swimming lake therefore offer two different ways to enjoy nature in town: the landscape and the bathing areas. If swimming is a deciding factor for your trip, check the latest visitor information in advance.

Summer hikes, festivals and church

During the summer months, hiking guides offer weekly guided themed hikes around Ruhmannsfelden. If you plan to join one, check the latest dates before your trip. Local festivities include a civic festival and garden festivals; if you plan your stay around them, it is also worth checking the latest event dates. St. Laurentius Catholic parish church is richly appointed. Near Ruhmannsfelden, you will also find the Osterbrünnl pilgrimage chapel and its Stations of the Cross. Alongside the natural swimming lake and hikes, local festivals and religious sites are further options to consider when planning your trip.

In the wider Regen destination

There are 13 terrain therapy trails in and around the town of Regen. Regen’s beer and ice cellars are regularly presented on public guided tours as the historic “Regener Underworld,” with their history explained. The natural features near Weißenstein are also part of the wider Regen destination: the quartz rocks by Weißenstein Castle ruins were placed under nature protection in 1940 because of their geological significance. The Pfahl at Weißenstein is an important habitat for rare animal and plant species that thrive in warm, dry conditions and are adapted to nutrient-poor sites.

Other activities in the wider Regen destination are available in different seasons. Ice skates and equipment can be rented on site at the Regen Ice Sports Centre. The Grubhügel cross-country ski trail in Regen can be used for both skating and classic diagonal stride. For a hike, there is the Beer Experience Hike in the wider Regen destination: it is about 5 km long, with almost half of the route running directly alongside the Regen River. These activities are located in Regen and complement Ruhmannsfelden’s local features with other attractions in the region.
