Neufra: Fehlatal Valley, Winter Trails and Freudenweiler
Accommodation in Neufra
Neufra lies in the Fehlatal Valley; designated nature reserves surround the main village. You can decide whether your trip should focus on the landscape, cross-country skiing, or a specific cultural and historical site.
Winter trails: comparing two loop routes
The Kohlloipe is an approximately 2.1 km loop through forests and open areas; its starting point is at the Ledigen Kreuz. The Nachtloipe is an approximately 2 km illuminated loop. When there is sufficient snow, it operates on weekdays from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm; its starting point is about 100 m beyond the sports and event hall.
At approximately the stated lengths, the Kohlloipe is slightly longer than the Nachtloipe. The forest and open areas along one route contrast with the lighting and snow-dependent operating hours of the other. If you plan to use the Nachtloipe, check the snow conditions and operating hours in advance. This lets you compare the routes not only by length, but also by scenery and time window.
Chapel and barbecue area in Freudenweiler
The Franz Xaver Chapel, built in 1850, stands in Freudenweiler. Its highlight is a 60 cm-tall, 250-year-old Madonna and Child enthroned. The chapel’s construction date and the Madonna’s age provide two distinct historical points of reference. The combination of the building and sacred artwork is a striking detail of local history.
The Schwandlich barbecue area is just outside Freudenweiler and can be reached on foot or by car. The municipality asks visitors to register in advance to use it. If you plan to visit, make sure to register beforehand.
