Pfullendorf is a small town in Baden-Württemberg, in the district of Sigmaringen. Located in the Linzgau region, the town lies between the Danube Valley and Lake Constance. Highlights for a stay include the historic Old Town, waterside activities and signposted trails.

Together with Illmensee, Ostrach, Wald and Wilhelmsdorf, Pfullendorf is part of the Northern Lake Constance holiday region. The region is associated with extensive wetlands, orchards and lakes, as well as views towards the Alps and Lake Constance.

Discover the Old Town and its history

A stroll takes you through the lovingly renovated historic Old Town. Information panels in the Old Town show your location, provide information about sights and indicate the route of the town walk. You can use the on-site signs to find your way as you explore.

The Bindhaus adds insights into local customs, history and traditional crafts to a visit to the Old Town. Built in 1499, the building belonged to Pfullendorf Hospital and served as a granary. Exhibits in the Bindhaus Museum include an old shop, a traditional classroom, and historic measures, weights and pharmacy items. The display may change.

The town’s history also extends beyond individual buildings: Pfullendorf was granted town rights in 1220 and was a Free Imperial City from 1282 to 1803. These dates add important milestones in the town’s development to the picture of its historic Old Town.

Trails and Seepark Linzgau

Marked cycling, hiking and walking trails offer different ways to explore the landscape around Pfullendorf; they also include sections of the Way of St. James. The signposted walking trails are around 3 to 5 kilometres long. If you want to estimate the distance first when planning your day, this gives you a specific guide.

Seepark Linzgau lies at the western entrance to the town. This family-friendly park has walking paths, playgrounds and a water play area for children. The swimming lake offers beach volleyball, a sunbathing lawn and a swimming area for children. Seasonal visitor facilities may change.

Wakeboarding is available at the wake park, diving is offered at the diving centre, and Seepark also has adventure golf. Check the availability of these activities before your trip. This makes it easy to include Seepark in your plans without confusing its different activities: walking paths and play areas are part of the park, while the activities mentioned each have their own facilities.

Getting there and planning

The starting points of the local walking trails are accessible almost directly by Bürgerbus. You can also reach the starting points in Aach-Linz by RegioBus 500. As timetables and connections may change, it is advisable to check the latest information before travelling.

The Räuberbahn connects Pfullendorf with Aulendorf, stopping in Burgweiler, Ostrach, Hoßkirch and Altshausen. Before travelling, check both the connection and the days of operation, as timetables and operating hours may change.

Pfullendorf is also part of the German Half-Timbered House Road: the eastern route passes through Pfullendorf and Ostrach on its way to Lake Constance. It comprises 13 day tours from the Neckar to the Black Forest. If you are planning individual stages, check the details of each route in advance.
