Discover Schwieberdingen
Accommodation in Schwieberdingen
Cycling routes, art, local history and golf offer different focal points; the routes also vary in their formats and themes. You can plan your trip around the experiences that interest you most.
Cycling routes with different profiles
The GlemsmĂĽhlenweg is fully signposted and passes numerous preserved and notable mills. You can explore the route in several stages and from various starting points. Parking options and train stations are marked on the map. As this access information may change when route maps are updated, check the map before planning your trip.
The Glems Valley Cycle Path connects Markgröningen and Schwieberdingen; cycling and hiking are equally central to its character. This makes it a different kind of tour-planning option from the Glemsmühlenweg, for which several stages and different starting points are specifically provided.
Art and Celtic history along the way
The ART LOOP is a 35-kilometre circular route that combines physical activity and art with the landscapes of the Stroh- and Heckengäu regions. Seven artworks line the route. The Keltenweg runs for about 35 kilometres through the Ludwigsburg district and links nine significant finds from the Celtic period. It also connects places southwest of Ludwigsburg that share a Celtic heritage. The two routes are therefore of a similar length, but have different focal points: art and landscape on the ART LOOP, and archaeological sites on the Keltenweg.
Local history and golf
The local history museum Im Alten Pfarrhaus presents the working and everyday lives of Schwieberdingen’s ancestors. In the museum cellar, the brewing tradition of the Lamm-Brauerei Essig recalls another part of the town’s history. A visit to the museum thus complements the routes, whose themes focus more on landscape, art or historical sites.
A sporting highlight is the Schloss Nippenburg golf course. Its 18-hole championship course was designed by Bernhard Langer. The facility also includes dining options. As dining options may change, check what is currently available before your visit.
More things to explore in the Ludwigsburg region
The Ludwigsburg region also offers opportunities for hiking, cycling and canoeing in the Remstal and Bottwartal valleys. In the district, terraced steep vineyards along the Neckar and Enz rivers shape the landscape. This offers a different perspective on the area from routes focused on art and Celtic heritage.
For an insight into wine culture, explore other regional routes. The WeinErlebnisWeg Wunnenstein is about four kilometres long and features 60 illustrated information panels on viticulture and winemaking, as well as viewpoints. The route is lined with restaurants, seating areas, barbecue spots and WengertschĂĽtzen huts. By contrast, the Geigersberg wine trail is a 1.9-kilometre circular route with information panels on nature and wine culture, as well as rest areas. Their different lengths and themes help you plan regional outings around your interests.
