Trails with different focuses
For a cultural and historical circular walk, the approximately five-kilometre Sandbauernweg is a clear option. Eight information boards cover the history of the Sandbauern. The Eppinger-Linien-Weg is a longer route: this 41.9-kilometre trail runs from Eppingen via Sternenfels and Maulbronn to Mühlacker. It offers a route connecting several towns as an alternative to the circular walk. Another option is the family-friendly loop “To Deer and Quiet Forest Lakes”: it is 4.8 kilometres long and takes about 1.5 hours. The approximate duration is an additional guide for planning your day. For comparing other routes, the Enzkreis overview lists six hiking routes of varying difficulty and between 10 and 22 kilometres long, including trails around Sternenfels. As the overview is dated, check that the information is up to date before planning.
Sandbauern history and Schlossberg Tower
Schlossberg Tower is a water tower that visitors can climb, with a GuG Museum, playground and beer garden. The GuG Museum covers the history and geology of the Sandbauern village, as well as the Lords of Sternenfels. At one time, around 35 sand mills operated in Sternenfels. The Sandbauernweg and the museum have different focuses: in addition to the Sandbauern, the museum covers geology and the Lords of Sternenfels.
Seasonal activities
Sternenfels outdoor pool has a spacious sunbathing lawn for swimming and bathing. It is open seasonally. The Schloßberg beer garden in the Sternenfels vineyards is also seasonal; it serves local wines and light meals. If you plan to visit either place, check whether it is open during your travel dates.
