Le Cannet offers a range of experiences: art, heritage, walks, and markets provide different ways to shape your stay. If you’re looking for a hotel in Le Cannet, consider which of these themes you’d like to focus on during your trip. The Musée Bonnard connects the town with painting, while historic buildings, viewpoints, and the “Sur les pas de Bonnard” walking route offer other perspectives on the place.

The Musée Bonnard and the Painter’s Legacy

The Musée Bonnard is the first museum in the world dedicated to the work of Pierre Bonnard. You can visit independently during temporary exhibitions or presentations of the collections. Exhibition guides accompany you as you explore the works and provide a helpful framework for your visit to the museum.

Guided tours of the exhibition are available in French and English on request. If you would like a guided tour, request one in either of these languages. Check the dates, presentation formats, and guided-tour options before your visit, as arrangements may change.

Walks, Landscapes, and Views

The approximately 90-minute “Sur les pas de Bonnard” walking route invites you to discover the Canal de la Siagne and follow in the painter’s footsteps. Along the route, you’ll experience the landscapes and light of the Midi that inspired Bonnard, as well as panoramic views. The walk thus combines a specific artistic reference with impressions of the landscape. You can factor the approximate duration of an hour and a half into your day’s plans. Route conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Place Bellevue is a viewpoint in its own right, offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the Îles de Lérins. While the route takes in landscapes and the inspiration behind Bonnard’s work, Place Bellevue offers a direct view of the sea and islands. Visibility depends on the weather.

Historic Buildings and Public Art

The Tour des Danys has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since December 22, 1941, and is described as Le Cannet’s first watchtower. The Chapelle Saint-Sauveur was formerly a bell tower. Théo Tobiasse redesigned it around the theme “La vie est une fête” (“Life Is a Celebration”); outside, the mosaic entrance and the “L’Oiseau de Lumière” sculpture stand out.

The Église Sainte-Philomène can also be placed in its historical context through two dates: it was completed in 1884 and designated a parish church in 1907. Its completion and its later role in the church mark distinct stages in its history. The monumental Oranger du Patrimoine mural adds another dimension to local history: it honors Le Cannet’s first 140 founding families and depicts their family tree.

Arts and Crafts and Markets

In Vieux-Cannet, Rue Saint-Sauveur brings together artisans under the “Ville et Métiers d’Art” label. The street has more than 50 shop windows; the number may change over time. The crafts and shop windows give this part of your stay its own cultural focus.

Le Cannet’s markets offer fruit, vegetables, delicatessen products, flowers, clothing, and souvenirs. The selection ranges from food to items that invite browsing. The offerings may change over time. Along with the museum, historic buildings, and walking route, the market offers a different way to spend your time in Le Cannet.
