Colomars offers several specific points of interest to consider when choosing a destination: views and natural areas, hiking, sports and leisure, and architectural and everyday history. If you are looking for a hotel in Colomars, first consider what you would like to focus on during your stay. The features below can help guide you and give you a sense of the town’s character in relation to your trip.

Views, Natural Areas and Hiking

The Point de vue de Colomars viewpoint is located on a promontory. From there, the view stretches across the plain and hills to the highest peaks. An individual visit takes an average of five minutes—a short amount of time for the viewpoint. The numerous so-called Vallons obscurs add geological and botanical features to this panorama: they are home to exceptional reserves and are classified as a Natura 2000 site.

For hiking, the GR®51 is a specific option: a section recently rehabilitated by the département leads hikers to the endpoint in La Manda. Check current trail conditions before setting out. The hiking section and the average five-minute individual visit to the viewpoint represent different ways to experience the landscape of Colomars.

Sports and Leisure in Colomars

The Espace de Loisirs du Fort Casal sports and leisure complex covers 9,000 m² and has numerous areas for sports and leisure. These include a stadium, two tennis courts, a fitness trail and an outdoor wellness area. Unlike the GR®51 hiking section, the complex brings together various sports and leisure facilities. It offers another facet of Colomars alongside its landscapes: a municipal leisure complex with clearly designated areas for exercise and sports.

Chapels, Church and Village History

The Chapelle Saint-Roch in La Sirole was built in the 19th century at the request of residents of the neighbourhood. It features frescoes and a stained-glass window signed by Jackie Decroix. This brings together a history rooted in the neighbourhood and specific artistic features.

The church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité can also be clearly situated in time and architectural style: it was completed in 1830 and features neoclassical architecture. Its construction date and style offer different points of reference for considering the town’s history and architectural form.

The restored communal Four Ă  pain in La Sirole offers a different perspective on everyday history. It preserves the traditional village craft of breadmaking and allows visitors to learn about historic uses and ways of life in the past. While the chapel and church represent religious architectural history, the communal oven focuses on craftsmanship.

Former Water Supply

The town’s history also includes its water supply: the Rigole d'eau n° 2 channel from the Canal de la Vésubie once supplied water to Colomars. As historic infrastructure, it adds a functional aspect of everyday life in the past to the religious buildings and communal breadmaking. Together, these places and structures offer different ways to explore Colomars’ history—from architecture and craftsmanship to water supply.
