La Limouzinière offers several specific reasons to get to know the area: the grounds of Château de la Touche, heritage riddles and walks through vineyards. Each experience has a different focus. At the château, architectural heritage takes centre stage; the heritage trail features playful activities about local history; and east of the town centre, wine landscapes shape the walk. When planning your stay, you can decide whether you are more interested in historic buildings, a trail of riddles or a landscape that changes throughout the year.

Château de la Touche and its heritage

The grounds of Château de la Touche are open to visitors free of charge all year round. This makes an outdoor visit to the château a distinct part of your travel plans. The château’s logis-porche is considered the oldest architectural heritage in La Limouzinière. This named part of the building offers a tangible reference point for learning about the town’s architectural history.

A trail of riddles, with a choice of duration

The heritage trail at Château de la Touche is open all year round and offers two playful options: one takes an hour and the other two hours. The difference is the time commitment: you can choose between one and two hours to explore the heritage. The riddles draw on local history; to solve them, observe your surroundings and use the information boards along the heritage trail. The trail combines looking closely for yourself with information on site. After recent rain, the paths may be harder to walk on, so take this into account when planning your visit.

The Parcours du Patrimoine de La Limouzinière can also be completed on paper. Through the Baludik app, the trail offers riddles for exploring the local area that are suitable for the whole family. You therefore have two options when choosing a format: complete the trail on paper or use the app’s riddles, which incorporate the surrounding area into the exploration.

Wine landscapes and traces of the Moulin du Chaffault

East of the town centre of La Limouzinière, walkers can stroll through the vineyards and take in the wine landscapes as they change with the seasons. The focus here is on the scenery: the vineyards take on a different appearance throughout the year. This walk complements the view of the built heritage with a seasonal perspective.

At the entrance to La Limouzinière, a tower belonging to the former Moulin du Chaffault can be seen among the vineyards. A long-fût press is on display nearby. This is a type of lever press that was commonly used in the region until the Second World War. The tower and press illustrate different aspects of local heritage: the tower belongs to the former mill, while the press represents a technique that was widely used in the region.
