Cultural history, hiking trails and a rural landscape offer different points of interest. You can decide whether to base your choice more on historic architectural styles, a walk, or the scenery.

Church and château: different periods in time

The Église Notre-Dame de la Nativité has been listed as a historic monument since 12 April 1927. Its main construction phase dates to the 12th and 13th centuries. The nave is single-aisled and divided into four bays. In architecture, a bay is a section that forms part of the structural division of an elongated space; single-aisled describes a single main nave. The 1927 listing should be distinguished from the construction period: it dates the listing as a historic monument, while the main construction phase falls in the 12th and 13th centuries.

The Château de Loucelles has a different history. It was rebuilt in the 18th century and also retains architectural elements from the Renaissance. The Renaissance features should be distinguished from the later construction phase: the château retains them, while its rebuilding took place in the 18th century. Together with the church, this offers a comparison between a main medieval construction phase and a building rebuilt later that retains Renaissance elements.

Hiking trails: a circular route and short walks

A landscape assessment dated 15 July 2025 mentions a circular hiking trail around Loucelles and a trail running west of the village for short walks. The two descriptions offer different ways to plan: the circular route takes in the village as a whole, while the other trail is characterized by its western location and short walks. You can choose based on the type of outing you want: a loop around Loucelles or short walks west of the village. The trail descriptions reflect the situation as of 15 July 2025, so check for current information about the route before setting out.

Landscape and road connections

A hilly plain lies near Loucelles, with the Thue meandering through it. Away from the RN 13, Loucelles has a rural character. The approach to Loucelles from Audrieu passes through a green corridor within the rural landscape. The plain and river describe the wider landscape; the green corridor refers to the approach from Audrieu.

Loucelles lies along the Route Nationale 13. The Loucelles bypass was inaugurated on 23 January 2014. The location along the route is a geographical reference; the inauguration is a specifically dated event in the village’s development. When choosing a location, you can therefore distinguish its position along the route from the history of the bypass.
