If you’re looking for a hotel in Deauville, start by asking what you want your stay to focus on: the beach and promenade, culture, film or equestrian sports. The city’s attractions offer different starting points for planning your trip. You can then tailor your hotel comparison to your personal requirements.

Beach and promenade

Plage de Deauville is a vast stretch of beach between the sea and Boulevard Cornuché. Les Planches, the promenade along the beach, is now 643 metres long. From there, you can look out over the beach, the colourful parasols and the changing colours of the sea and sky. The beach and promenade offer different experiences: Plage refers to the open coastline, while Les Planches is the walkway with views over the scene.

The names of actors and actresses are painted in black letters on the boards between the beach cabins. So, alongside views of the sea and beach, the promenade also offers a cultural detail. At the beach first-aid station, people with motor disabilities can borrow a Tiralo and a Hippocampe by presenting an identity document. If these mobility aids are important for your trip, check in advance how to obtain them.

Architecture and culture

The Bains pompéiens combine classically inspired courtyards, atriums and arcades with a modernist Art Deco design. The complex was inaugurated on 5 July 1924, based on a design by architect Charles Adda. The cabins are also part of this distinctive layout: they open either onto the sea or onto one of five courtyards. Visitors interested in architecture will find classical forms alongside early 20th-century design.

Les Franciscaines devotes 6,200 square metres to art and culture. The fully renovated former convent brings together a museum, a media library, an event hall, an auditorium, exhibition spaces and a FabLab open to everyone. Painting, photography, literature and performances are part of a year-round programme. If you’d like to plan a visit to a particular exhibition or performance, check the current programme beforehand.

Film, equestrian sports and history

The Deauville American Film Festival was founded in 1975 and welcomes the public. For film enthusiasts, it adds a distinct focus to the city’s cultural offerings. Villa Strassburger offers a glimpse of a different aspect of the city’s history: the Belle Époque building was built for Henri de Rothschild. It stands on the site of a farm that belonged to Gustave Flaubert’s family.

Equestrian sports are also part of Deauville. The Deauville-La Touques racecourse was built in 1864 and has three polo fields where the world’s best teams regularly compete. The École de polo de Deauville trains riders indoors and outdoors. The racecourse, polo fields and training school represent different aspects of equestrian sports, while the beach, film and culture offer other possible focuses for your trip.

When choosing where to stay, you can start by weighing up these interests: do you mainly want to spend time at the beach, explore cultural sites and architecture, or focus more on film and equestrian sports? This can help you decide what kind of stay is right for your trip to Deauville before comparing hotels to suit your individual needs.
