Green spaces and horticulture in Thiais

At Parc André Malraux, a permeable footpath runs from north to south, linking Rue des Orvilliers with Rue Jean Jaurès. Following extensive redevelopment work, the park reopened to the public. The project focused on plant diversity and preserving urban biodiversity. It also included a redesigned children’s play area with new games and play equipment. Check the latest municipal access information before you arrive.

New sports equipment is also available for public use at Parc André Malraux and Les Terrasses du Soleil. As equipment and access rules may change, check the latest information before your visit.

Verger de Cluny offers a different focus: its orchard includes traditional varieties of apple and pear. The apples include Cox Orange, Reinette blanche du Canada, Reinette clochard and Reinette du Mans; the pears include Beurré Hardy, Conférence and Doyenné du Comice. The orchard offers a chance to distinguish between two types of fruit and a number of specifically named varieties.

The Saturday programme at Jardin permacole de Thiais offers sessions for adults and families. Participants can learn or build on their knowledge of vegetable growing and fruit-tree cultivation. As availability and registration requirements may change, check them before planning a session.

Architectural history, church and music

The Maison du manufacturier Gilardoni was built in 1896 by architect Léon Bonnenfant for Xavier Gilardoni. Polychrome bricks and architectural ceramic elements come together in the building. It is considered one of the last truly significant reminders of Choisy-le-Roi’s now-vanished brick and faience industry. The building’s history thus also leads to an industry associated with Choisy-le-Roi.

Several historical layers come together at Église Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles. The church was partly destroyed during the English invasions and rebuilt in the 15th century. Its façade is believed to date from the 16th century and features a Renaissance portal. Inside, there is also a painting of the Assumption of Mary. Both the rebuilding and the later, cautiously attributed dating of the façade are therefore relevant to understanding the building.
