When looking for a hotel in Talasani, you might consider whether you want your stay to focus more on historical heritage, a horse ride or the seafront in the hamlet of Figaretto. The local landmarks are quite distinct: at Sainte-Lucie and San Petru, churches and their history take centre stage, while Prignani is home to a watchtower in ruins. There are also horse rides of varying durations and a hiking route. The topic that interests you most offers a concrete starting point for your choice.

Churches, Monastery and Historical Traces

The parish church of Sainte-Lucie was listed as a historic monument by decree on 15 January 1987. It was built on a site with a long religious history: at the end of the 17th century or the beginning of the 18th century, the church was rebuilt on the site of a chapel already mentioned in a visitation report from 1646. This places the earlier chapel and the later rebuilding at two distinct points in the history of the area.

The former Franciscan monastery of Saint-François in Convento was built in 1636. It was dissolved during the French Revolution and burned down in retaliation the following year. Unlike the building history of Sainte-Lucie, the sequence here is one of construction followed by the monastery’s dissolution and destruction. Visitors interested in historic buildings will therefore find in Talasani both a parish church with an earlier predecessor and the story of a former monastery.

At Prignani, a building’s traditional function is linked to its present condition. The watchtower was intended to protect the village during the Barbary raids of 1541. The square tower survives as a ruin on a hill northeast of the former village. Its location and stated defensive purpose give the tower a different historical significance from the churches and monastery.

The medieval chapel of San Petru once belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Sauveur and Saint-Mamilien and is now in ruins. The Romanesque ruins of the 7th-century chapel lie one kilometre north of Talasani. San Petru can thus be understood in terms of its former abbey affiliation, its age and its specific distance from the village.

Horse Rides of Varying Durations

Tavagn'a Cavallu offers three-hour horse rides in Talasani through the sea and mountains, with a swimming break. There are also two-hour rides in the mountains, as well as day trips that can be tailored to individual preferences. The options differ in both duration and setting: the two-hour ride heads into the mountains, while the three-hour ride combines the sea and mountains with a swimming break. Day trips offer another option that can be customised. Check the latest details before taking part.

Figaretto, Seafront and Boucle 13

Talasani has a seafront in the hamlet of Figaretto. Figaretto is a hamlet in the Talasani plain, where various beach-related activities are available. Along with the horse rides, this local feature adds a coastal dimension to the picture of Talasani; the activities mentioned are associated with the beach.

Another way to explore Talasani is the Boucle 13. It starts at the A Mandria track at the northern exit of Figaretto and passes through Talasani and Tagliu è Isulaccia. Both a specific starting point and the communities along the route are named. Check trail conditions and access locally. When choosing between local activities, you can weigh up historic buildings, horse rides, Figaretto’s seafront and a route with a clearly identified starting point.
