Discover San-Nicolao: hotels for your stay
Accommodation in San-Nicolao
San-Nicolao offers different highlights for a stay: Moriani-Plage is known for its coastline, while the parish church and the Aqueduc de l'Ercate offer insights into the area's architecture and history. Hiking trails, the Cascade de l'Ucelluline and outdoor activities provide further options.
Moriani-Plage: beach and seasonal watersports
Moriani-Plage is the seaside resort on the Tyrrhenian coast of San Nicolao. It is home to Plage de Padulella, a very large fine-sand beach dotted with lagoons. Conditions at the beach can vary. The season is important for watersports: from June to September, Costa Verde Aventure offers towed inflatable rides, canoeing and kayaking, pedal boating, stand-up paddleboarding, water skiing and wakeboarding on Moriani beach. Activities are seasonal; as availability can change, check the current offerings before your visit.
Cultural history: parish church and Aqueduc de l'Ercate
The Eglise paroissiale San Nicolao was completed in 1717 and classified as a historic monument on 6 October 1976. Its architecture includes a nave and five richly decorated side chapels. The completion and later classification mark two distinct dates in the building's history; the chapels provide another architectural feature.
The Aqueduc de l'Ercate was more than one kilometre long and ended at the former, now vanished, forge of Moriani. It is visible from the road that climbs towards the village. For the parish church, the focus is on its construction date and features; for the aqueduct, it is on its length, former endpoint and visibility from the road.
Hiking trails, a waterfall and outdoor activities
The hamlets of San Nicolao are starting points for numerous hiking trails in Costa Verde. This offers a dedicated option for hiking plans alongside the coast and watersports. At the Cascade de l'Ucelluline, two tunnels carved into the rock frame the waterfall along a scenic road. The Cascade lies on the border between Santa Maria Poghju and Santu Nicolaiu. Canyoning is possible around San Nicolao, on the San-Nicolao side in the Ucelluline area.
Parc Aventure de Moriani is located at Lieu dit Suarti in San-Nicolao. It has nine treetop courses for all age groups and difficulty levels; they are accessible from the age of three. There are also inflatable castles for children. For planning a visit with children, the age requirement and this additional attraction offer concrete points of reference. The course configuration may change, so it is advisable to check the current offerings before your visit.
Festival Padul'Ella and when to visit
Festival Padul'Ella features exclusively female singing and usually takes place in late July. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific dates: the dates may vary from year to year. This makes it possible to plan the festival as a cultural highlight alongside the architecture, coast and outdoor activities.
