For a stay in Luri, you can include cultural history, walking routes, a medieval tower and the port of Santa Severa as different focal points in your travel plans. If you are looking for hotels in Luri, your interests can help you decide: would you like to explore churches and chapels, choose a marked hike, or focus on views and maritime themes? The following places and routes offer specific points of interest.

Churches and Chapels in Luri

In the 12th century, San Petru di Luri was one of the original Pieve churches of the former Diocese of Mariana; in 1751, at the community’s request, Pope Benedict XIV elevated it to a collegiate church. These two dates provide a timeline from the church’s early role to its later elevation.

The “Route des chapelles du Cap Corse” was launched in 2016. Eighteen chapels were selected for the route, one in each municipality. In Luri, the Chapel of Saint-Jacques and Saint-Philippe in Piazza, in the town centre, is one of the stops. Check the chapel’s current opening arrangements before visiting.

The Church of Saint-Pierre has a wooden altarpiece from the 15th century. Alongside the history of San Petru di Luri, this religious artwork offers another specific point of interest for exploring the town’s cultural heritage.

Walking Routes with Different Focal Points

“L’Appel du grand large” is an easy, yellow-marked 4 km circular route that takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The hike starts in Campu and leads beneath holm oaks and cork oaks to the Chapel of San Salvatore. It can be extended to the ruined village of Mata; afterwards, follow the same route back to Campu. Route details may change, so it is advisable to check conditions locally.

The “Parcours de santé – arboretum” is a 2 km circular walking route on flat terrain that passes through an arboretum. There are 12 exercise stations along the route, which is designated as a walking trail (PR) in Luri. The two routes can be compared in terms of their different features: “L’Appel du grand large” has an approximate duration and an optional extension, while the Parcours focuses on flat terrain and exercise stations.

Another circular route is the “Chemin du Patrimoine – Chjassu di a Memoria”. It starts in the hamlet of U Fenu (Fieno); visitors are asked to leave their vehicle in the hamlet of Liccetu. Check local parking arrangements before your visit.

Tour de Sénèque and the Port of Santa Severa

The Tour de Sénèque is a medieval tower on a 564 m-high rocky spur and a viewpoint overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. This named landmark thus combines a historical connection with views of both seas.

The port of Santa Severa adds a maritime theme to the cultural and scenic attractions. It has 150 berths for pleasure boats measuring 5 to 12 m in length. Berths may be available annually, monthly or daily. As operational availability may change, check before making specific plans.
