Natural surroundings, trails, local history and leisure activities give Ardon a range of different highlights. When planning your stay, you can first decide whether walks, historic sites, or golf and relaxation should take priority.

Walks and Routes

The Dolines de Limère, designated an Espace naturel sensible (sensitive natural area), covers 63 hectares and has been open for walks since 2010. Meadows, woodland and clearings shape the landscape. So a walk here is not defined solely by distance: the size and varied landscapes of the area are also central to the Dolines.

A route description updated on June 6, 2025, lists Boucle 09 – Le Château de Villiers as a 14.3-kilometre route in Ardon. It is suitable for hiking, riding an electric bike, VTC or mountain bike, and horseback riding. The route starts at the town hall car park and can also be accessed from the Dolines de Limère car park. Boucle 10 – Buglain also starts at the town hall car park. This gives both routes a shared starting point there; Boucle 09 also has the additional access point at the Dolines.

Church, Fountain and Local History

The Church of Saint Peter brings together several periods: it was burned down in 1562, and its choir dates from 1845. The church also contains a 16th-century polychrome wooden reliquary. The fire, choir and reliquary therefore belong to different historical periods. If you are interested in the history of the area, you will find both a major historical event and specific features of the church as it was built later.

A Roman road once ran from Orléans through Limoges to Périgueux, passing through Olivet and Ardon. It adds a historic route through the two towns to the picture of their religious buildings.

The Fontaine d’Ardon stands on the village green near the church. It is made of dressed stone and rubble stone; its design also includes a small roof of regional tiles and a basin edge for drawing water. The materials, roof and water-drawing function are distinct features of this fountain.

Relaxation and Golf

At Les Balnéades, the relaxation pool measures 200 square metres and the water temperature is 33 degrees. The pool includes an aquavitality course. Its size and temperature give you two specific points to consider when including this leisure activity in your travel plans.

Gaïa Concept Golf Orléans Limère Ardon combines water features with greens protected by bunkers. Beginners can use a six-hole practice course; introductory sessions for beginners are also available. This brings together features of the golf course and an offering expressly designed for newcomers.
