Radobica lies in the northeastern part of the Tríbeč Mountains, where they meet the Vtáčnik Mountains. The village is situated in a side valley of the Hornejský potok stream. The cadastral area of Radobica belongs to the Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Ponitrie). Its location in the Tríbeč Mountains, where they meet the Vtáčnik Mountains, and the side valley shape the surrounding landscape. Nature, walks and local history offer different ways to get to know the village. If you plan your trip around particular interests, the parks, nature trail and historic buildings offer a range of places to explore.

Landscape and parks

Hôrka Park is located on Hôrka Hill above the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho). There is a rest area with a lovely view of Radobica and its naturally wooded surroundings. The park is also home to the five-metre-long attraction “Rebrík do neba” (“Ladder to Heaven”). Here, a viewpoint and rest area sit alongside a single park feature. If you are choosing between a viewpoint and a specific attraction, Hôrka offers both in one place.

Hruštička Park has a different focus: it is used for a variety of leisure activities. A bicycle rack was installed there in 2023. The parks therefore have distinct stated focuses: Hôrka combines a rest area, a view and the Ladder to Heaven, while Hruštička is used for leisure activities. If the bicycle rack matters to your plans, check its current condition before your visit, as facilities can change.

Walks and local connections

The “Radobický náučný chodníček” nature trail introduces visitors to places of interest in Radobica and offers walks through pleasant mountain scenery. The trail includes newly built covered seating shelters. This combines a walk with information about local topics; the route is intended both for getting out in the mountains and for finding out about places of interest in Radobica. The covered shelters provide specific places to sit along the trail. If you enjoy combining exercise with local information, this is the trail’s distinctive focus.

Church and mill history

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho) was initially built as a chapel between 1949 and 1969. It was later enlarged and converted into a church by local residents. The building thus took shape in several stages over an extended period. The church is Radobica’s only cultural monument. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the courtyard in front of it. If you are interested in cultural history, you will find two distinct topics here: the building’s multi-stage history and the statue in the courtyard.

The watermill in Cerová tells a different story of local history. It was built in 1820 to serve the entire municipality of Radobica. Along the road to Cerová, the stone foundations of the former mill and remnants of the watercourse are visible. As part of a reconstruction, the mill was fitted with a modern Francis turbine and new grain-processing machinery; the turbine was manufactured in the Czech Republic. The visible remains point to the mill’s former location, while the reconstruction adds to its technical history. Cerová thus highlights both the mill’s importance to the municipality and its role in grain processing.
