Horná Streda lies on the right bank of the Váh River. A cycling route to Nové Mesto nad Váhom, a natural lake, and local history with dated church architecture provide several specific points of interest for a stay. For travelers choosing a destination based on a possible cycling trip, the named route is of particular interest; those interested in local history will find several sites that can be dated precisely.

Location on the Váh River

The village lies in an extension of the Danubian Lowland. Most of its cadastral area belongs to the Dolnovážska niva geomorphological unit; the easternmost part belongs to the Považský Inovec unit. The cadastral area also lies within the Váh River basin. The riverside location, river basin, and geomorphological classification describe different geographical connections. The Váh River is both the reference point for the location on its right bank and for the river basin; Dolnovážska niva and Považský Inovec classify the larger part and the easternmost part of the cadastral area, respectively. There is also a natural lake within the cadastral area.

The Roman Catholic Church of Všech svätých is a major architectural landmark. Originally Baroque, the church was built in 1728 on the site of a Gothic church dating from 1353. In 1924, it was completely rebuilt and extended with a transept. Its building history can be read in three stages: the Gothic predecessor, its Baroque construction, and the 20th-century renovation and extension.

Veterinarian Jozef Marek was born in Horná Streda in 1868. A commemorative plaque to him was unveiled in 1988 on the occasion of his 120th birthday. This biographical connection adds a memorial to the village’s history alongside its buildings.
