Accommodation in Kráľová Nad Váhom
In Kráľová Nad Váhom, river landscapes, nature conservation, and several notable landmarks reflecting the village’s history come together.
The Váh, the Reservoir, and the Bird Protection Area
Kráľová Nad Váhom lies in the Podunajská nížina on the right-hand river terrace of the Váh, north of the district town. The river crosses the village from north to southeast. The Kráľová Reservoir is also part of the municipal landscape: part of it lies within the cadastral area of Kráľová Nad Váhom.
The cadastral area lies within the CHVÚ Kráľová Special Protection Area. This protected area is part of the European Natura 2000 network and is an important stopover, wintering, and roosting site for birds. Alongside the river and reservoir, it gives the local landscape an ecological dimension. The three terms describe different aspects: the course of the Váh, a section of the reservoir within the municipality, and the importance of the protected area for birds.
Religious Buildings and Local History
The Kostol sv. Alžbety church is a Baroque church built in 1732 and extended in 1927. Its Baroque high altar dates from the mid-18th century. The construction, extension, and altar belong to different periods in its history, making the religious building interesting from an architectural perspective as well.
The Calvary of Kráľová Nad Váhom was probably established between 1928 and 1932. Its 14 Stations of the Cross stand in a lime-tree avenue; inside the hill is the Kaplnka Božieho hrobu chapel. The site therefore consists not only of the stations but also includes a chapel inside the hill. The Rázsochová zvonica bell tower adds another historic building to the village’s history: it was built in 1897 and renovated from February to August 2010. A bronze bell is mounted at the top of a tall wooden post.
The village also has ties to industrial history. The Kráľová nad Váhom hydroelectric power plant was built between 1980 and 1985. Inside the plant is a monumental work of art by František Chrástek, created during its construction. The plant’s construction period and the creation of the artwork are therefore part of the same historical context.
Cycling Routes and Sports Facilities
Two routes described in different ways may be of interest to cyclists. The Vážska cyklomagistrála between Komárno and Šúrovce runs through Kráľová Nad Váhom for a 4.3-kilometer stretch. There is also a 4.8-kilometer cycling route around the Kráľová hydroelectric power plant. The first figure refers to a section of a route between two places; the second refers to a loop around the power plant. These route types and distances make it easier to plan your choice of route.
The Športový areál includes a 70 × 100-meter soccer field and a training ground. There is also an 18 × 33-meter multipurpose field with artificial turf for mini-football, tennis, and volleyball. The dimensions and uses clearly distinguish the two fields: a soccer field with a training ground on one side, and a smaller multipurpose field for three listed sports on the other.
