Tešedíkovo combines religious architectural history and local memorial sites with lakes in its cadastral area. For your planning, you can organize these themes according to your interests: the Calvary complex and monuments represent the history of the village, while Téglások is suited to walks and carp fishing. An annual commemorative event also provides a fixed date to plan around. This can help you decide whether your trip should focus more on buildings, places of remembrance, a particular date or time by the water.

Calvary Complex and Church

The Calvary complex in Tešedíkovo was built between 1869 and 1876. Golgota–Kalvaria stands at the end of the Stations of the Cross, in front of the chapel. You can therefore understand the complex through its construction period and the spatial sequence of the Stations of the Cross, Calvary and chapel.

The Church of St. John the Baptist was built between 1816 and 1820 and consecrated in 1820. The single-nave building has a polygonal presbytery, an attached sacristy and an integrated tower. The organ dates from 1824 and was made by Matej Vonberger. This gives you a chronological sequence of construction, consecration and organ, as well as an idea of the building’s basic architectural form.

Memorial Sites and Local History

An obelisk commemorating the Battle of Tešedíkovo stands beside the cemetery. The Home Guard Association of Pressburg County had it erected in 1869 in memory of fallen Home Guard members. A monument to the victims of the First World War stands in a well-kept area on the main square. Their themes and locations provide two clear points of reference: the cemetery surroundings and the main square commemorate different events.

Some of the 19th- and 20th-century gravestones from the former Jewish cemetery have been placed in a park on the site of the former cemetery. The bell tower on Nový rad Street is also a distinctive local structure: the tall iron framework is made of railway tracks and carries a bell at its top.

An Annual Commemorative Event

Regional celebrations are held in Tešedíkovo every year on 15 March to commemorate the beginning of the 1848–1849 revolution and independence struggle in Hungary. If your trip coincides with this date, check the program in advance. The date provides a specific reason to plan your stay around a recurring day of commemoration.

Lakes, Walks and Fishing

Lake Čierne is one of two state-protected lakes in the cadastral area of Tešedíkovo. Lake Téglások lies on the northern edge of the cadastral area. The lakes offer different points of reference for your plans: protection status is the main consideration at Lake Čierne, while Lake Téglások is notable for its location at the edge of the area.

At Téglások, you can plan walks; carp fishing is possible with a float, boilies or a feeder. Check the current regulations before fishing. This lets you consider a walk and a fishing trip as different ways to spend time by the lake.

Getting There and Planning
