Radava: Churches, Educational Trail and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Radava
Radava lies at the transition from the Danube Lowland to the Danube Hills. The town offers several specific themes to help you choose where to stay: an educational trail with nature and cultural stops, cycling routes described in different ways, and architectural heritage spanning several centuries. If you’re looking for hotels in Radava, these interests can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.
Landscape and Educational Trail
The municipality reported that the educational trail was completed on May 14, 2026. It is approximately 3.993 km long and has nine information stations. Topics include regional culture and history, as well as fauna and flora. The stations divide the route by theme; at the same time, the trail connects aspects of nature with the history of the region. This means the focus is not only on the landscape, but also on the cultural and historical themes that shape Radava and its surroundings.
Cycling Routes Around Radava
The Radava cycling route 2103 Podhájska–Radava–Podhájska is designated as an easy mountain biking leisure route. It follows a field track to Radava, where it runs for a stretch alongside a church and a woodcarving gallery. The easy cycling route 5102 is linked to the municipalities of Veľké Lovce, Radava, Podhájska and Čechy. The descriptions of the two routes therefore differ: route 2103 is characterized by its mountain biking classification and its stated course between Podhájska and Radava, while route 5102 names four connected municipalities. Check the classification of route 2103 and the trail conditions before setting out.
Churches and Architectural History
The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Baroque Roman Catholic church. It was built in 1767 on the foundations of an earlier church. A painting of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, created around 1815 by Viennese painter Franz Schön, is displayed on a painted column altar. The church building and painting thus bring two different historical periods together.
The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius has a different architectural feature: it has a hexagonal floor plan and was built in 1969–1970. In contrast with the Baroque Church of the Holy Spirit, the focus here is on a different building form and a much later construction date. The two churches thus offer different points of reference for exploring Radava’s religious architecture.
The architectural heritage also includes a historic 19th-century bell tower, standing on four wooden posts, and folk houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their traditional floor plans and façade features complement the churches with examples of local residential architecture. The bell tower, houses and churches point to different building forms and periods, without reducing Radava’s history to a single building.
Víno Radava and Other Activities
The Víno Radava wine competition exhibition held its twelfth edition in 2026. A public tasting of the competition wine samples was scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the Radava Cultural Centre. If Víno Radava is relevant to a future trip, check the dates for the year in question. Agrotourism and horseback riding are also listed as activities in Radava.
The range of interests therefore extends from nature and culture on the educational trail to cycling, architecture and wine.
