Mošovce offers several clearly distinct themes to consider when planning a trip: protected landscapes, museums, historic architecture and leisure spots. The details range from the Mošovské aleje and the life story of Ján Kollár to historic crafts, a manor house, an outdoor swimming pool and an educational trail. This lets you tailor your stay to whether nature, local history or a seasonal leisure option is your priority.

Protected landscape

The Mošovské aleje have been designated a protected natural monument since 1969; their protected status was revised in 1995. The protected area includes the local park, several avenues along the roads and some woodland in the surroundings of Mošovce. Its total area is 273 hectares. The years indicate the timeline of the protected status, while the figure in hectares indicates the size of the area. Together, they provide both a historical and a geographical perspective.

Museums: biography and crafts

The Múzeum Jána Kollára is located on the original site of Ján Kollár’s birth house. The exhibition begins in the original granary and covers his life from his birth and studies through to his work as a pastor in the German town of Lobeda. The Múzeum mošovských remesiel has a different focus: housed in the Révay family mausoleum, built in 1861, it presents the historic crafts of Mošovce through tools and finished products. Comparing the two helps you choose a theme: one museum focuses on a life story, the other on crafts, tools and products.

Architecture from two periods

The Révay Rococo-Classical manor house in Mošovce was built in the second half of the 18th century. Its name combines the Révay family name with the stylistic terms Rococo and Classicism; the date places the building in its historical context. Compared with the mausoleum built in 1861, it is the older of the two buildings. This difference in age adds a distinct architectural point of reference to the museum exhibits: alongside life stories and crafts, the history of architecture is another way to explore Mošovce.

Outdoor swimming pool and educational trail

An outdoor swimming pool on the Mošovský potok uses thermal springs. It operates seasonally, so if you plan to visit, check its opening dates before your trip.

An educational trail created in June 2010 led through the village to the outdoor swimming pool, Báronov hrob, the Rybníky ponds with the Jack farm and horses, Čerňákovo, through the park and to the manor house. The circular route ended in the square in front of the municipal office. It could be completed on foot or by bicycle, and eight information boards stood along the route. The stops connected leisure destinations and natural and cultural points of interest in a circular route. For current travel planning, check whether the trail is still accessible.
