Vlachy can be considered from two perspectives when planning your trip: its buildings offer a connection to the area’s history, while the cycling route information identifies specific routes and landscape landmarks. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether architecture and history or cycling should be the focus of your stay. The details vary: the manor house is described in terms of its architectural style and interiors, while the routes are described in terms of their length, classification or named stops.

Renaissance Manor House and Granary

Kaštieľ Vlachy is a two-storey Renaissance manor house dating from the 16th century. You can identify the house by its two floors, Renaissance character and period. Its interiors feature Renaissance and Baroque vaults. These two stylistic references add a detail about the interior architecture to the basic information about the building. Of the former outbuildings of Kaštieľ, only the granary has survived. It broadens the picture beyond the manor house to include a building from the former group of outbuildings. This provides a cultural and historical focus, distinguishing the manor house’s features from the details of a surviving outbuilding.

Church, Bell Towers and Blacksmith’s Workshop

Other buildings also have their own historical details. The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Vlašky was consecrated on 12 October 1991. The bell tower in Krmeš was built in 1930 on the site of an older bell tower. In Vlachy, the bell tower has masonry foundations and a wooden upper section; it was also used as a fire station. The two bell towers therefore differ in their recorded features: in Krmeš, the tower replaced an older one, while Vlachy’s bell tower combines details of its construction with its former use. The Vlachy blacksmith’s workshop is about 150 years old. It adds a connection to craftsmanship to these examples of architecture.

Cycling Routes and Landscape Landmarks

There are two cycling routes to consider. The green cycling route 5467 – Vlachy–Ľubeľa–Hrachovisko–Liptovská CM – is an easy recreational mountain-biking route, 6.9 km long. It starts in Vlachy and connects to Route 035, the Liptovská cycling route. For planning your ride, the length and classification provide two different kinds of information: the distance in kilometres indicates the route’s length, while the classification identifies it as an easy recreational mountain-biking route. Before setting off, it is advisable to check the current route conditions, as they may change.

The route “Keltská výprava s deťmi na kolesách” offers a different kind of orientation. It leads through the village of Vlachy to the dam, along the reservoir and past the harbour to a white church right by the water. Route 5467 has a specified length and difficulty classification; the Keltská route is defined by its named landscape landmarks. When planning your trip, you can therefore consider whether you would rather focus on a classified mountain-biking route or a route that passes a series of notable places.
