Uzlina lies in the southern Danube Delta on the St Gheorghe Arm. From Murighiol, you can reach the village only by boat. This boat access should therefore be factored into your travel planning early. The landscape around the village is shaped by the lakes and waterways of the Danube Delta.

Waterways and routes

Route 7 is a navigable visitor route through Uzlina. It runs from Murighiol via Uzlina, Lacul Uzlina, Lacul Isac and Gârla Perivolovca, returning to Murighiol. Its course can therefore be understood as a loop that returns to Murighiol. As an extension, the route runs from Lacul Uzlina and Lacul Isac via the Isac-2 Canal, the Litcov Canal, the Ceamurlia Canal, the Crişan Canal and the Sulina Arm to Crişan. Route 7 returns to Murighiol; separately, the extension runs from Lacul Uzlina and Lacul Isac to Crişan. Navigation rules and conditions may change; check them before undertaking a specific trip.

Lacul Isac: plants and wildlife

Lacul Isac is connected to nearby canals and lakes, including Lacul Uzlina. Both lakes are also named in succession on Route 7. The predominant vegetation at Lacul Isac includes reeds, cattails, and white and yellow water lilies. The lake also provides a habitat for fish such as carp, catfish, pike, zander and perch. Pelicans, swans and cormorants also find a habitat there. Lacul Isac can therefore be viewed from different aspects of nature, from its vegetation to the groups of animals associated with the lake.

The plant life varies by season. Fish populations may also vary depending on the season and management conditions; the presence and abundance of birds change seasonally. If you include nature observation in your travel plans, you should take these changes throughout the year into account rather than assuming conditions are always the same.

More tours and waterways

The boat tour “Traseu 5 Lacuri la Apus” passes through the village of Uzlina and onto Lacul Uzlina. White and yellow water lilies can be seen on the section across this lake; natural conditions may vary by season. Tour dates and availability may change. Check the latest information before adding it to your plans.

When considering access information for other bodies of water, the point of reference matters: Lacul Isac is in an area accessible only by waterways. Lacul Pojarnia can be reached from Lacul Uzlina only by boat; water conditions may vary. The descriptions therefore differ both in their geographical reference and in whether they refer to an entire area or access from a specific lake.
