Routes in Sohodol vary by destination and route type. The marked TA hiking trail leads to Peștera Huda de Lapte; there is also a circular route, an unpaved high-altitude road, and routes through several settlements. For planning, the specific route is therefore more important than a single place name.

Hike to Peștera Huda de Lapte

The marked TA hiking trail leads from Fața through Sohodol to Peștera Huda de Lapte. Sections pass through forest and clearings, followed by a short, steep descent to the cave. This sequence gives the hike a clear route, from wooded and open stretches to its named destination. Seasonal conditions may affect accessibility. Take the steep final section into account when planning, and check conditions for the time of year.

Peștera Huda de Lapte is an interesting cave without stalactite formations. If you are especially interested in these formations at a cave destination, this is a useful distinction: stalactite formations are specifically not among the cave’s features.

Cycling Routes and High-Altitude Trails

The Trail 80 PR circular route has recently been officially approved, is suitable for mountain biking, and is recommended for cycling tourism. Route 76 is also suitable for mountain biking, but follows an unpaved high-altitude road through Sohodol, Roșești, Costești, and Preluca. This gives you different points to consider when choosing: Trail 80 PR is identified as a circular route, while the road surface and sequence of places are specified for Route 76. Check the road conditions before riding Route 76.

Route 74 connects Valea Arieșul Mare with the high-altitude trail through Sohodol, Costești, and Preluca. Below Vârful Runc, it runs at an elevation of 1,275 metres. Check current trail markings and access conditions before setting out. The elevation refers to the route below Vârful Runc, not to the route’s length.

Routes 74 and 76 both pass through Sohodol, Costești, and Preluca, but differ in other ways: Route 74 connects to Valea Arieșul Mare and the high-altitude trail; Route 76 also passes through Roșești and follows an unpaved high-altitude road. The places they have in common do not make the two routes interchangeable.

Route Between Albac and Horea

The route from Albac to Horea passes through Fața, Sohodol, Roșești, Fericet, and Măncești. It follows a GPS-based route; markings and conditions may change. Check the current route and trail conditions when planning. The full sequence of places helps identify this route as a connection between the two named locations.

Fața and Sohodol also feature on the TA hiking trail, but the routes have different destinations: the TA route leads to Peștera Huda de Lapte, while the route from Albac continues to Horea. When navigating, therefore, look for the complete start and destination details rather than relying on individual place names.
