Accommodation in Tingvoll
Tingvoll combines trails and viewpoints with historic buildings, a museum and places to enjoy local experiences. Activities range from hiking and mountain biking to exploring ecology, cheese and textile crafts. Plan your trip around the landscape, history or special activities.
Trails and viewpoints
The Utsikten Trail starts in TingvollvÄgen, is 1.4 kilometres each way and has 86 metres of elevation gain. The Utsikten route offers a viewpoint overlooking the Tingvollfjord, with views towards Flemma and Reinsfjellet. The first 0.9 kilometres are well suited to mountain biking.
The hike to Geilhaugen is another option. It is considered easy and suitable for everyone; Maretbua, a shelter open to all, is located there. From the viewpoint at Geilhaugen, you can look out over TingvollvÄgen and towards StÞlsvatnet. The two viewpoints offer different perspectives: one looks towards Flemma and Reinsfjellet, the other over TingvollvÄgen and towards StÞlsvatnet.
Another option is the illuminated trail. From there, you can walk or cycle to the Tingvoll Museum and continue to Reitfjellet. A new trail runs through Vasslia, with several shelters along the way. This route offers a choice between walking and cycling, with several named destinations.
Church, architectural history and museum
Tingvoll Church dates from around 1180 and is also known as NordmĂžrsdomen. It is built of stone, with marble and limestone door and window surrounds. The listed vicarage, dating from 1730, stands right beside the church. Here, a medieval church building and a later protected building stand side by side.
Tingvollâs cultural heritage also includes the rock carvings at Honnhammaren, which are many thousands of years old. The Tingvoll Museum offers another perspective on local history. Its collection includes a mill, a water-powered sawmill, a forge, a large farmhouse and a small crofterâs cottage. These different buildings and facilities offer visitors a tangible insight into rural life and crafts.
Local experiences and activities
Tingvoll Ăkopark is a learning and experience centre with four areas of focus: organic farming, animal welfare, renewable energy and sustainable development. Visitors can see the âReisen i jordaâ exhibition. You can also follow the course of the year in Stjernehagen. The programme thus includes both topics to explore in the exhibition and a garden where the changing seasons take centre stage.
At Tingvollost in TorjulvĂ„gen, visitors can book a 30-minute guided tour in advance, which includes information about the farm and cheesemaking, as well as a cheese platter. MĂžre BĂ„nd & Vev represents Tingvollâs longstanding and still vibrant textile tradition. Together, these offer insights into local production and crafts alongside the areaâs natural and architectural history.
If you would like to include sports in your trip, there are two clearly described courses. Ăydegard Golfbane in Tingvoll municipality is a par-62 golf course with two nine-hole loops and two teeing areas per green. Tingvoll Discgolfpark is an 18-hole course in an outdoor park. There are two tee positions per hole: a red beginnerâs course and a white course for more experienced players. The activities differ not only in sport, but disc golf also has designated courses for different experience levels.
