The wider destination of Tingvoll adds its own cultural and recreational attractions to these local experiences. You can plan your trip around the themes you would like to focus on.

History in Meisingset

Meisingset is home to the remains of an old iron ore mine that was of great importance to the occupying power. This historical connection adds a different dimension to the hiking trails and viewpoints: it draws attention to the history of the place and the importance of mining during the occupation.

Trails along Storelva and Hanemsvatnet

The Storelva Trail includes a gravel section, a small bridge, a shelter and a barbecue shelter by the water. These features give you a concrete idea of what to expect along the route. The circular route along Storelva to Hanemsvatnet passes a fishing platform by the river and a shelter with a barbecue; there is also a barbecue shelter at Hanemsvatnet that is free to use.

The route descriptions help distinguish between the two trails: the Storelva Trail is described in terms of its surface and bridge, as well as the shelters by the water. The circular route, on the other hand, links the places mentioned along the river with Hanemsvatnet.

Mountain hikes and views

The hike to Venåsdammen follows a well-marked green route that is considered somewhat challenging. It is suitable for a family outing or an afternoon training hike. About halfway along the trail, between the turnoff and Venåsdammen, there is a large rock with a bench where you can rest. From there, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Meisingset and the distant mountains.

The route up Hufatet is marked on the terrain with cairns and/or trail markers. The summit is 842 metres above sea level. For a different view, take the hike to Røttingsnessetra, where you can look towards Ålvundfjorden and Meisingsetvågen. The landmarks described differ considerably: the Venåsdammen route features trail markings, difficulty level and a viewpoint along the way; Hufatet is described by its terrain markings and summit elevation; and Røttingsnessetra offers views of the fjord and Meisingsetvågen.
