Krašići can be understood through two specific themes: the characteristic coastline of the Krtoli area and churches in different parts of the village. When choosing a destination, this distinction helps you consider the landscape and cultural heritage separately, rather than associating Krašići solely with a general coastal image.

Coast and Local History

Krašići is part of the Krtoli coastal area in Tivat. The shoreline there is characterized by rocky beaches and concrete piers. These two features offer a concrete sense of the landscape: both rocky beaches and built piers are part of the coastal description. This helps you get a more precise sense of the destination without using a single stretch of beach as a benchmark for the entire village.

The Church of St. Nicholas stands above Gornji Krašići, beside the former road that connected Krtole with Luštica. It dates from the 18th century and is dedicated to the patron saint of travelers and fishermen. Its location and the historic road connection provide a different point of reference from the coast of Donji Krašići. Its dedication also offers a clear point of interest for travelers interested in the religious and historical side of the village.

The Church of the Martyrs of Bokel stands on the seashore in Donji Krašići. It was completed in 1897 and is dedicated to the early Christian martyrs Peter, Andrija and Lovrijenac. This makes it possible to distinguish the two churches by several specific features: St. Nicholas stands above Gornji Krašići and dates from the 18th century; the Church of the Martyrs stands on the coast of Donji Krašići and bears the completion date 1897. Their dedications also differ—travelers and fishermen in one case, the three martyrs in the other.

When exploring the local cultural heritage, the churches therefore offer different points of reference rather than repeating the same description of a building. Together with the rocky beaches and concrete piers characteristic of Krtoli, they provide two distinct themes for understanding Krašići: its coastal landscape and the history of its churches.

Tivat as the Wider Destination

The wider destination of Tivat offers additional natural and cultural themes. Visitors can stroll in the shade of mature, some exotic, trees in Tivat City Park. Some trees are up to 130 years old and 25 meters tall. The park has been a nature reserve since 1968 and was declared a natural monument in 2015. For visitors, it combines an opportunity for a walk with a clearly dated protection status.

Solila is another natural attraction: this coastal wetland covers about 150 hectares and lies opposite Tivat city center in the Bay of Krtole. Since 2013, it has been listed as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and designated an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). Solila is also a candidate for Emerald Site status under the Bern Convention. These details distinguish between an international listing, an IBA designation and candidate status.

The Maritime Heritage Collection in Porto Montenegro presents Tivat’s maritime traditions and the Adriatic’s nautical past. Porto Montenegro’s Submarine Museum is another part of Tivat’s maritime heritage: it includes the P-821 Hero submarine, considered a former flagship of the Yugoslav Navy. In the museum and gallery spaces of the medieval Buća complex, the “Ethnographic Heritage of Tivat” collection presents exhibitions on art, ethnology, archaeology and documentary themes.

Buća Luković includes a fortified, 15-meter-high tower dating from 1548, which is now used as an art gallery. Buća Luković dates from the 14th century and is considered the most monumental and best-preserved historic summer house of its kind in Tivat. These examples give the wider destination its own cultural range. When making your choice, you can therefore draw a clear distinction: the coastal features and churches relate to Krašići; the park, wetland and collections mentioned belong to the wider destination of Tivat.
