Lepetane lies on the eastern side of Verige, the strait that connects the bays of Tivat and Kotor. From the sea, the town rises inland into greenery and olive groves. If you are looking for a hotel in Lepetane, you can get your bearings by considering different points of interest: the ferry connection, beach, maritime history or routes into the hinterland.

Ferry connection and beach

The Kamenari–Lepetane ferry route carries passengers and vehicles between the municipalities of Tivat and Herceg Novi. The route also has an online ticket office. Operating details and ticket rules may change; check the latest information before your trip.

A beach near the ferry lies between Lepetane and Seljanovo. It is about 200 metres long and mostly pebbly, with some sandy areas. Natural shade and beach furniture are also among this beach’s features.

Hinterland, hiking trail and estate

The Giardino Lepetano estate is situated on a hiking trail used for trips to the peaks of the Boka. As trail conditions may change seasonally, check them for the time of your trip. The estate includes olive groves, fig trees, vines, and carob and citrus trees. Guests are offered homemade food prepared traditionally; check before your trip whether this offering is available. This provides both a hiking route into the hinterland and a specific connection to the estate’s agricultural land to consider when planning your trip.

Fishing and historical connections

Lepetane is known as a place of fishermen and seafarers. Mala Lega is a fishing spot discovered by fishermen from Lepetane and known among recreational and professional fishers. The Gospa od Anđela fortification and religious complex dates from the 15th century. The Church of St. Ana in Lepetane is probably Baroque and is believed to date to the 18th century.

In the hinterland of Lepetane stands the Church of St. Elijah, associated with views over the Bay of Kotor. It is considered to be in poor condition; its roof structure has collapsed. A specific building material also connects Lepetane with Kotor: red stone from the Lepetane quarry was used to build the ciborium in the Basilica of St. Tryphon.

Tivat as a broader travel destination

The wider destination of Tivat has its own nature and culture highlights. Tivat City Park has been a nature reserve since 1968 and was declared a natural monument in 2015. The Solila Nature Reserve is a coastal wetland of about 150 hectares, opposite Tivat city centre in Krtole Bay. Since 2013, it has been listed under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance and designated an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA); Solila is also a candidate for Emerald site status under the Bern Convention. The Maritime Heritage Collection in Porto Montenegro is a museum about Tivat’s maritime traditions and the Adriatic’s nautical past.
