Liepene combines coastal landscape and the route of the Jūrtaka. When choosing a destination, Stage 11, seasonal route recommendations, local campsites, and a connection to orienteering may offer different points of reference. If you are looking for a hotel in Liepene, these can help you first weigh whether the Jūrtaka, the landscape, or an event connection matters most for your stay.

Jūrtaka and Coastal Landscape

Stage 11 of the Jūrtaka passes through Staldzene, Liepene, Jaunupe, and Oviši. The stage includes sandy and gravelly shoreline sections; washed-out clay can be found along steep coasts. These surface descriptions distinguish between shoreline sections and steep coasts, rather than assuming uniform terrain.

The “Vējciems” recreation complex is located in a pine forest on the Baltic Sea coast. Forest and sea together define the setting of this complex.

For the Staldzene–Liepene section, small forest paths running parallel to the seashore are recommended in winter, spring, and autumn. Beyond Liepene, the shoreline gradually becomes lower. Vegetation can grow densely along the Jaunupe River during periods of low water. For planning the stage, these notes answer different questions: the recommendation concerns seasonal route choice on part of the section, while the details about the shoreline and Jaunupe describe landscape conditions.

Road and Orienteering

The T‑V1332 “Pievedceļš Liepenei” road is 1,688.77 metres long. It was upgraded from a gravel road to a road with a double surface treatment; the work was completed in August 2025. A bus stop shelter was also installed as part of the project in 2025. The road and the Jūrtaka stage serve different navigational purposes: one is a named road and a completed upgrading project, while the other is a route passing through several places.

Campsites and Their Features

The “Liepene” campsite is a spacious recreation complex right on the seashore; its well-maintained grounds cover five hectares. The area describes the site as a whole, while the coastal location describes where it is situated. These are two distinct features to consider when assessing this campsite: the size of its grounds and its immediate proximity to the sea.

The “Jēņi” campsite has a sauna and a party room for 16 people. Its services are available from May 1 to October 31. The number 16 refers to the party room, while the dates indicate the service period. Compared with “Liepene,” the specific facilities and season are therefore the main features of “Jēņi”; for “Liepene,” they are the size of the grounds and its coastal location.

Orienteering in Liepene

A 2024 federation announcement named Liepene as the venue for the traditional “Kurzemes Pavasaris” orienteering event. Competitions in the middle and long distances of this event were in fact held in Liepene. The planned event and the competitions that took place are different statements about timing.
