Zdechov brings together nature, outdoor activities and culture as different aspects of planning a trip.

Natural Areas and Trails

The entire cadastral area lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy). The surrounding area includes valuable natural landscapes with juniper pastures, flower-rich meadows where orchids grow, and well-preserved woodland. A protected natural site lies within the cadastral area on the eastern slope of Žďár (689 m). Part of the typical Valašsko landscape has been preserved there: a so-called juniper pasture and several orchid species. These represent two different scales: protected-area status applies to the entire cadastral area, while the natural site on Žďár has specific landscape features.

You can borrow Nordic walking poles at the Zdechov Municipal Office for the nature trail and Nordic walking route. Another option for runners is a 16 km cross-country skiing route that depends on snow conditions. It runs from the car park by the Zdechov swimming pool via the Pod Filkou saddle, the Radošov sedlo saddle, Skaličí and Pulčín—with the Pulčín icefalls and a viewpoint overlooking the Pulčín Rocks—before returning to Zdechov. The outdoor activities differ considerably: borrowing poles is a practical starting point for Nordic walking, while the running route passes several named locations.

Culture and Local History

Visitors to the firefighting equipment museum in Zdechov can see firefighting uniforms, old photographs and fire pumps. Notable exhibits include a fire pump from 1904 that is still in working order. The museum thus combines photographs and equipment with a technical exhibit whose date of manufacture and function are both noteworthy.

Another cultural connection is traditional crafts: Krosienkové bonnets were made in Zdechov as part of Valašsko folk dress; they are known as “zděcháky.” The Roman Catholic Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord is a protected cultural monument, built in 1778 under Maria Theresa. Crafts and folk dress offer a different focus from the protected church architecture, with its specific construction date.

Leisure and Seasonal Conditions

The swimming pool in Zdechov has a pool, a multi-purpose sports court, a children’s paddling pool, a slide and refreshments. The 16 km running route also starts at the car park by the swimming pool. Nature trails and the swimming pool therefore sit alongside the cultural attractions as different leisure options when planning a trip.

The sports complex includes a 360 m ski lift of medium difficulty with an elevation difference of 80 m. The slope is groomed with a snowcat; seasonal lift operation depends on snow conditions. There are numerous cross-country skiing trails around Zdechov, which are groomed mechanically when snow conditions are favorable. For the ski lift, the length, elevation difference and difficulty level are relevant; for the trails, grooming is explicitly dependent on favorable snow conditions. If you are planning a winter visit, it is advisable to take snow conditions into account.

Trip Interests and Hotel Search

If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Zdechov, first decide what to focus on during your stay based on your plans: nature and trails, cultural history, the swimming pool or—when snow conditions are suitable—winter sports. You can then compare specific hotel offers with your own requirements.
