If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Branky, you can explore the town through its cultural and natural features. The castle park, the histories of the two castles and the parish church offer different historical points of interest. Along the Loučka, meanders and routes shape the landscape, while Modrý rybníček adds its own ecological focus. The cycling routes described here provide specific route details to help you plan.

The Castle Park as a Cultural Monument

The castle park in Branky is part of the cultural monument. The well-maintained park includes many valuable trees and shrubs, a pond and a summer amphitheatre. The entire revitalised park area is accessible. If a particular facility is important for your visit, check its condition in advance.

The Old and New Castles

The so-called Old Castle was probably created in the 18th century by converting an earlier fortress and now serves as the municipal office. The New Castle has a different history: František Erasmus Lockner z Lockenau had it built as a Baroque knight’s residence in the early 18th century. At the end of the 19th century, it was remodelled in a historicist style under its then-owner, Dr. Hans Huber. The term describes a design that draws on older styles; the remodelling gave the castle its present appearance. In the 1930s, at the request of the then-owner, sculptor and painter Josef Siegel created its unique interior.

Church and Statue

Alongside the castles, the parish church offers a distinct historical perspective. The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was consecrated in 1787. In front of the church stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1734, associated with Max. Lockner of Lokenav.

Routes and Landscape along the Loučka

Marked route 6216 leads from Poličná along the Loučka stream to Branky. A cycling route of around five kilometres also leads from the Bečva Cycle Route via Abácie Park and Poličná, following the Loučka to Branky. The two route descriptions differ in their planning details: route 6216 names Poličná as the starting point and follows the stream; the cycling route also gives an approximate distance and lists Abácie Park and Poličná as waypoints. Check the current route and markings before setting out.

Between Branky and Poličná, the meanders of the Loučka form a stretch almost two kilometres long. The protected kingfisher breeds along this section of the stream. Modrý rybníček in Branky offers a different natural feature: it provides a refuge for amphibians and is also of entomological importance. The stream corridor and the pond therefore represent different ecological features within the description of the area.
